Singleplayer games are nice to play again for nostalgia at times, but eventually you will have seen all of it and it wont offer anything new.

With Neverwinter Nights I get something new whenever I log in on a roleplaying server. One day I am a guest at a wedding, another day at a funeral. And another day I might be getting drunk at a tavern with some dwarves.

And of course with mods that became a standard to use such as CEP, theres a lot of extra content.

With Neverwinter Nights you can create pretty much any character you can come up with since it supports so many things. Since clothes and armor exists out of seperate parts (neck, torso, biceps, forearms, hands, belt, pelvis, thighs, shins, feet, robe) and there are at least 60 colors available with 2 leather, 2 cloth and 2 metal options for an outfit, the number of possible combinations might be more than a milion.

Ultimate customizability I would like to call that, which in turn allows for pretty much any character. clothes make the man or woman after all. Be it for a black knight, divine palladin, conan-esque barbarian, stealthy thief, samurai, princess, merchant, monk, cheap mercenary, old beggar, nobleman, king, gladiator, bard, jester, prostitute, drunk, guardsman, wizard, necromancer, chimneysweeper, demonic warrior, drow assasin, or whatever else you can come up with.

And because of those possibliities, Dragon Age is a huge disappointment regarding armor since its all just reskins of a few limited models.

Heh. Nice screenshot of meeting Chase outside Candlekeep. BG had so many gag NPCs like that. ^_^

You so need to grab a screen of the insulting rant a PC can give to Portalbendarwinden. That naked old man that can read auras you meet on the way south to Nashkel if you're not familiar with the name. Although maybe you missed the opportunity.

Just... try not to backstab him too. ;)

Yeah, the original was better than the remake, sadly.

I still love the Eye of the Beholder mod for NWN.

Actually i still have the original Eye of the Beholder which i often play.

I tried that mod once. Wasn't bad, but I'll admit it isn't one of my all time favorites. I missed the original entirely. Before my time, I guess. It's probably in a Gold Box compilation I picked up ages ago, but I could never get that thing to work properly. Assuming it is Gold Box?

Also, points to Inzhuna for noting Septerra Core. That was one of the games on my unmentioned list. It had a female protagonist back when that was considerably rarer. Maya was strong, but kind; rather than a total bloodlusting action doll or a one-dimensional ditz. Septerra Core was also one of those rarest of things: a JRPG style game made exclusively for PC by western developers. <3Led, Grubb, and Selina.

Huh, I liked Septarra a lot, and I usually don't go for JRPG's.  (Probab ly because it was made by a western designer).  I also loved the world, brilliant.

Holy S... I thought I was the only person who ever even owned that game.

It had Christopher Walken AND Clive Owen. Didn't know who CO was before that game. Still thought the game was sheisse for a Wing Commander spinoff though. :bandit:

in other news... I still play X-Com once a year or so.

- Baldur's Gate series ( I play it yearly, usually around the holidays)

- Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (I own the n64, gamecube, and VC versions)

- Splinter Cell

- Shenmue

I could play these games over and over, I play Baldur's Gate the most out of all of them however, it has the most replay value.

Probably the oldest game I've ever replayed was Zork I, just replayed that one less than a year ago.

I also replayed Ultima V just recently, and beat it again. Both those games, while nostalgic, are somewhat masochistic to play nowadays.

My sense of time isn't the best, but let's see... Baldur's Gate series (which I'm currently playing, in fact); Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale II, Planescape Torment, Unreal Tournament 2004, Half-Life, Populous III: The Beginning, Lemmings, Duke Nukem, Commander Keen, Knights of the Old Republic, various Zork games, and pretty much any game that's five years old or older that I've played and liked. I don't get tired of things easily.

As for my all-time favourite game, it's probably Baldur's Gate. Baldur's Gate II, I suppose, if I had to pick one.

I Still Have BG 1,2 and 3 on my comp I toss it around now and then. Diablo II now and then The original Warcraft Battle chest RTS, and Starcraft. Although before DA came out spent alot of of the last 3ish years on Mount and Blade it's more war based with huge battles anywhere up to 500 or more combatants.

OK, nobody hit me please.

Diablo II

BTW - One of the reasons I lke playing some of the older games is that 5+ years ago my computer was Top of the Line... Kinda fun to install a game and turn on ALL the eye candy.

No hitting!
I have been playing Diablo II:LOD this very day!
I installed a mod that allows me to play it in wide screen...so sweet playing a magic user and being able to target monsters before they can sense your there!

Anyone mention this yet? I still come back to Ultima VII: The Black Gate & Serpent Isle every once in awhile. Morrowind's got nothing on those games in open-endedness, the program Exult runs Ultima VII perfectly on modern systems.
