It's not cowardice.

It takes a substantial amount of balls to build a superweapon/battery deliver it to the Reapers' doorstep, and then decide that you're not going to use it.

Stupid? Very. But not cowardly.

Personally, I think its a debate between whether this choice is stupid or cowardice.

But also very arrogant - why do people say Shepard had no right to choose synthesis for the galaxy but had the right to decide it was better for them all to die than use the Catalyst?

Refusers like to contradict themselves,  they are too stubborn to admit the contradiction though.  Their overall arrogance and stubborness won't let them see it or I should say let them acknowledge it.

Too long of a thread to read through, but I'm still not clear on how destroy is giving in to the reapers. Is it because starkid says that destroy is possible? Just because he says it's a possibility doesn't mean he endorses it. In fact, he tries to dissuade you from it by saying that the peace won't last.

Again, how is BLOWING SOMETHING UP giving into it?

With that in mind, the only explanation for refuse I can see is that you're just not willing to kill the geth/edi. If you choose nothing, that happens anyway.

Refuse is stupid.

If you want to be free than pick destroy, you get rid of the reaper menace forever and for the first time in possibly a billion years the civilizations of the galaxy get to determine their own fate. Of course in order to pick destroy you refusers will have to get off your high horse to shoot the tube.

Destroy and Control are endings that I'm fine with, but Synthesis... that one makes me wonder why BioWare loves it so much...

I find synthesis fascinating (maybe that is just epilogue) but it would not be my first choice.  Though if it became between synthesis and refuse I would pick syntheis in a heart beat.  Refuse is just accepting defeat.

I'd like to know why the starbrat was in such a rush when he controls the reapers. Unless the crucible is loosing energy by the second.

He is trying to fullfil his programming.  The crucible offers new ways he can fullfill it.

Hey you know what personally I'm a synthesis fan but It's your game your Shepard I don't like these threads that try to trash any of the endings. There are multiple endings for a reason if there where just one obvious one to pic there would be no point in having more than one and don't tell me they are all the same as 10 tonnes of concentrated forum rage says otherwise.

I know what you are saying but refuse just rubs me the wrong way.  I think partialy because it got demanded by people who were upset by the concepts of the original endings.  They wanted to shoot the kid and reject him and reject the crucible though there was no other logical way to beat the reapers.  Yet these people stubbornly stick by their decision to screw over the galaxy.  They deliberatly choose to lose.  It is like a basketball player losing the game on purpose.

In Refuse you're letting everyone die because of your petty morals. How are you siding with the enemy or trusting them when you're the one who built the Crucible?
