Possible DA3 Specializations
and how they might affect the story
Warrior
Chevalier
Chevalier's are the famed cavalry of Orlais, honorable to the point of arrogance. Players can acquire the Chevalier specialization is they side with the Templars or Seekers. By completing the Orlesian Civil War main quest and accepting the offer of either Empress Celene or Lord (insert Orlesian name here) once you place them on the throne, to become knighted as a landed Chevalier of Orlais.
The Chevalier focuses on mounted combat. As a Chevalier, you will be able to summon your horse. When mounted, you can charge enemies withyour lance, or slash them during a pass.
If you become a Chevalier, people will recognize you as an Orlesian noble. Expect reverence from lesser Orlesians, racism from Fereldens, and a healthy bit of respect from Nevarrans. Tevinter will continue indifference along with the Qunari.
Berserker
Berserkers follow the ancient traditions of the dwarves of harnessing their rage. A player of any side can obtain this specialization by asking (insert dwarven name here) of the Warrior Caste in Orzammar, or the Casteless Warrior in Kal Sharok to train them.
If you become a berserker, dwarves will respect you better. Most others will be indifferent, except for the Ash Warriors.
Templar
Templars are the holy warriors of the Chantry that have recently broken off due to their crusade against mages. Players who side with the Templars are the only ones who can use this specialization. After joining the Knight-Commander of (starting location), the player may ask to join the Order under his jurisdiction.
Templars will be hated and feared by Mages, but the devout commonfolk may occasionally show their reverence for you. The Qunari will be more hostile than usual, however.
Mages
Note: Mages are only able to side with the Seekers or Mages.
Blood Mage
Blood Mages have harnessed the innate power if their own blood to power their spells, as well as use powerful Blood Magic-specific spells. Mage-siding players can obtain this specialization from the corrupt Senior Enchanter (insert Nevarran name here). He will teach it to the player in exchange for doing a favor for him and murdering a fellow Senior Enchanter who has figured out about his Blood Magic.
Players who become Blood Mages will have to protect their secret; there are several points in game when using blood magic in front of a fellow Mage will force you to kill them to hide your secret. If you use it in front of common people, they will become scared and run away or surrender, even if you didn't intend to hurt them.
Spirit Healer
Spirit Healers call upon spirits of the Fade to improve their healing skills. Characters who side with the Seekers can learn to be a Spirit Healer from the young Enchanter (insert Orlesian name here) without cost. Players siding with the Mages can learn to be a Spirit Healer from Senior Enchanter (insert Orlesian name here) after completing the first two main quests.
Spirit Healers will be respected by all but Templars. There are a few instances when people will approach the Spirit Healer to heal someone. It is up to the player to accept or decline.
Keeper/Shapeshifter (needs name, perhaps two separate
specials?)
Players use the ancient magics of the Dalish Keepers and Shapeshifters. A Mage-siding player only specialization, it can be obtained by the Dalish Keeper (insert elvish name here) after saving her and her clan from Templars.
Templars will hate you, and common people will fear you as if you were a Blood Mage. Mixed reactions from others.
Rogues
Assassin
Assassin is available for all sides. The most exemplary assassins are those of the Antivan Crows, who use all methods to kill their targets from poison to the simple blade. You can learn the specializations by completing the Crow's Accomplice questline and asking Master (insert Antivan name here) to teach you his skills.
If you are an Assassin, most of the people in the Orlesian Civil War main quest will be distrustful of you. A few objectives in, however, and the leader of your side in the Civil War (Empress Celene or Lord (insert Orlesian name here() will ask you to perform a small Assassination questline, either The Empress' Blade or TheLord's Dagger.
Note that playing an Assassin is funner when you are on the Templar or Seeker's side and therefore can access the Orlesian Civil War main quest and subsequently the Assassinationquestlines.
Bard
Bards are masters of the Orlesian game, the politics andintrigue that constantly plague upper-class Orlesian society. It is available to Templar and Seeker players. It can be learned from the Suspicious Person for
a few of ten sovereigns. Those with good persuasive skills can lower it down to five or two sovereigns.
As a Bard, most of the people in the Orlesian Civil War main quest are distrustful of you. Your patron in the war may eventually ask you to spy on his rivals. This leads to either the Empress' Trusted or Lords Chosen questlines.
Duelist
The Duelist specialization is a two-handed style perfected
by the Riviani pirate Isabella. It is available to all, and can be learned from
Isabella's former crewmate and Amaranthine pirate (insert Ferelden name here)
in exchange for enough silver to book a ship back to Ferelden after he
shipwrecked in Orlais.
As a duelist, some people might think you a pirate. Your
subordinates might want to learn from you, however, and you are generally well
respected as a good fighter.
Okay, so now I'll explain. I thought since the setting is Orlais it'd warrant the return of the Bard specialization and the new Chevalier specialization. The one you learn from the Dalish Keeper was kind of weak, and I acknowledge that.
The "Orlesian Civil War" main quest is based of the information that Orlais is currently in a civil war of some kind. As a Templar or Seeker player, you intervene on either the side of the Empress or the rebel Lord (insert Orlesian name here). It also gave me the opening to put in some Assassin and Bard exclusive content.
So, give me your opinions. And yes, I know it just kind of assumes you already know about the majority of the game, but I wrote it, once again, in less than idealm conditions.
