To be fair, Ashley's new uniform was no more ridiculous than the white and pink Phoenix armor she's wearing at the start of Mass Effect 1. The other Alliance Marines we see in Ashley's transmission to the Normandy, are wearing either camo or dark colored armors, and then there is Ashley...out of uniform and wearing a color scheme that shouts, "Here I am...shoot me!"

I wonder how many people complaining about her new appearance had her run through the entirety of ME1 in Phoenix armor, despite it neither being very tactical or an Alliance military uniform.

ME1 Ash was definitely better.

Did not appreciate BioWare making her "sexy" in ME3.

Ash  went into new armor in ME1 as soon as possible.  Ideally Onyx.

That's one of the nice things about ME2, the ability to  change certain ridiculous looks.

And no more ridiculous then the armor Shepard has with cut forms for her boobs..... I mean really. Armor that's just perfect for her breast size and moulded to the exact shape..

Hair up. Wouldn't have a problem with it if her hair had been the only thing they changed about her for ME3, though.
I liked the ME-Ash much more than the ME3-Ash.

Camouflage is clearly purely a matter of style in Mass Effect.  Which is kind of silly, but it is a consistent part of the universe.

I definitely prefer her with hair up and minus boob job. I loved her tomboyish, but still beautiful appearance in the first game.

In Me3 she is just meh. Miranda clone or something.

This. Ashley became a boring archetype in ME3.

I felt very glad I saved Kaidan.

The old racist Ashley who preached poetry and tried to get in bed with me every chance she took? Or the new Ashley that didn't make it because I blew her ass up in Virmire.

*Insert evil laugh*

The awesome realist Ashley that cared for you as a human being (with that attitude, I wonder what she saw in your Shepard <_<). Maybe you should listen to her in ME1. Pretty much everything she says about the council turns out to be true.

As to the question of of her hair, how about hair cut?

That's because the ME3 Ash you picked is frowning, lol.
Here, let's turn the tables:

The removal of the meth addict stare from a lot of the characters doesn't make up for the fact that she looks like Victoria Beckham in some shots, its not because she's frowning that I posted that pic, its because of her whole look in ME3

Definately preferred her without the inflatable boobs. The hair is fine either way. She had a perfect figure to start with in ME1/2, why Bioware felt the need to give her surgery is beyond me.

Lookin at the pic above though, I must say i do prefer the ME2 Ashley. For some reason they messed up a lot of the graphics textures in ME3 (Anderson's hands.... *shudders*). I'm gonna blame that on EA for rushing them though. If you look at the characters in the latest DLC (Leviathan) the characters look much better drawn.

Ashley got vaporized on Vermire in my game, but I actually kinda like her ME3 look.

I never liked the bun from ME1 and 2, and while I'd probably prefer it if it was shoulder-length like FemShep, it's still good for me.

Besides, she's a SPECTER now, so WTF does she care for military regulations? I also don't hear anyone complaining about Liara's outfit, so why should they care that Ashley wears just about as much armor as Liara does? It's all shields and barriers anyway.

I prefer her hair down. Very down. Like six feet under.

In all seriousness, while she looks better with her hair down, I prefer it up because it's more military-like. A big thing with Mass Effect that I enjoy is making female Shepard look like a career soldier. Short hair, no makeup, she's not there to look pretty she's there to win a war. Ashley with her hair up looked less "classically beautiful" but she also looked like a soldier.

Looking the part is one of the reasons I don't like Miranda a lot. Her character isn't so bad, it's the catsuit look that betrays any appearance that she's come equipped to fight a war. Her armored appearance from the costume pack is greatly improved since she looks like she's ready for a battle. Jack bypassed this because being hardly clothed but not terribly sexualized (no hair, loads of tattoos, smaller proportions to her body) implied she was more used to being a brawler, which suits her and her monstrous biotic ability. Miranda however just looks off.

Four things;
1 - Ash wasn't a Spectre when ME3 began, she as an Alliance soldier but her hair was down then.
2 - Liara is the SB, not a trained soldier like Ash. The two have nothing in common.
3 - Armor is there to catch the things shields don't/can't (impacts with walls, vehicles and assored other objects that don't activate the shield or it isn't there because the shield was down.)
4 - Humans don't have Barriers, just kinetic shields with their armor.

Hated her new design. Why Bioware felt that a strong, interesting female character needed to be prettied up I'll never know. Seriously, the new Ashley design plays on the disgusting (and deeply rooted) norm that a woman's worth is directly tied to how bang-worthy she is (lip-gloss and long hair in battle clearly makes you a better person and soldier). Unfortunately, this phenomenon pretty much runs rampant in all games, though Aveline from DA2 was a welcome change of pace. The choice to make Ashley "pretty" (bimbo) in ME3 contributes to this world's continued tendency to reduce women to their boob size, and it was an incredibly tasteless and bad move.

Both.

But I prefer her hair down.

Though they should've probably included the option to have her hair in a bun while in armor, but it honestly doesn't bother me. Her redesign was totally welcome.
