oh look, the humans appear to be making a last ditch effort. they appear to be concentrating on reaching this beam....now where did i put that off switch?
the reapers control the citadel, turn the damn beam off. and all this is happening BEFORE the crucible docks, so theres not even the argument of the starkid wanting shepard to reach it, since we are supposed to believe its the crucible that changes the catalyst into allowing shepard to make his choice. before that hes just in continue the cycle mode
if the normandy is stealthy enough to do an extraction(which seemed entirely out of place), drop off a bunch of people right at the damn beam.

#%^)@* EXACTLY. The super stealthy Normandy should have just dropped off a crew at the Beam!

People are trying too hard to hate this scene.
Thats because its just too absurd. Your in a last ditch attempt to charge the beam and you and your squad stop so they can be brought to safety?!
Come on, its funny if you really think about it.
Edit: I cant even hate it because I cant take it seriously enough.
You are right, but people here don't seem to have much knowledge on military procedure.
It's of higher priority to suppress people attacking you than attacking those running away. This is why evacs such as the one portrayed in the game make are possible and make sense.
The Reapers, being good strategists, obviously would want to encourage people to run away, since as long as no one gets to the beam, victory is theirs.
So why does Liara get an evac while the others are abandoned? What makes her so important? And if she's so important, what is she doing on the suicide run?
What others are you talking about? I don't remember seeing abandoned wounded until after Shepard regains conciousness, and that's because everyone there died.

I swear EC just made the ending worse if you ask me. It explains some plot holes like your team on the normandy but its so rediculous its not even plausible. It flat out RETCONS some parts of the original endings... So much for artistic integrity. And it adds a new ending when they said they wouldnt, but this new ending is just insultingly bad and it has no reason being there. And the worst part: theres little to no character closure, you never find out what happens to shepard and his team, meanwhile devs are telling me to use my imagination essentially.
That is garbage. And im not buying anything else from these jokers until they straighten themselves out.
Just my opinion of course
Once again you are an echo of my thoughts. Agreed completely.

Why didn't Saren Kill Shepard when he held him by the neck? Cool emotional scenes don't have to be logical to be good
When BrookerT posted this, there really wasn't much reason to continue the thread.
But yet it continues
Yep. Because it's a cool scene and it works better that way.
Happens all the time in movies and stuff. Haters gonna hate though. Let's look for more reason to hate Bioware please, it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy when we unite this way.

It just... it felt good, okay?

It totally betrayed Shepard as a leader and his confidence upon his squad. It was pathetic and thematically revolting.

Nothing like a scene in the game that totally contradicts the character of your squad members: "Hey, I know you have been there every step of the way, but in the most important moment of the galaxy, I'm gonna do this on my own. Here is the Normandy, off you guys go. Peace."
It totally betrayed Shepard as a leader and his confidence upon his squad. It was pathetic and thematically revolting.
What was he going to do, carry them to the beam? They would only slow him down at that point.

You mean the ones that where flying TOWARDS the beam thus becomnig a threat and not staying behind to evac injured?
So the Normandy wasn't flying TOWARDS the beam to get Shepard? It was flying backwards..

If you actually watch the scene, it does not fly towards the beam to get Shepard. It circles around. Since this seems to be the thread to nitpick.

This answer is the optimal form of answer to this discussion. It is perfectly short, yet gets all the major points across. I strongly agree with you.

Yeah, it magically appeared 2 seconds after Joker says, "Taking heavy loses up here, Commander"

However, unlike the SR-1, the SR-2 cannot land on every planet—due to its increased mass—requiring shore parties to use a shuttle to get to a planet's surface.

Just want to point out the contradiction in this post... SR2 cannot land on EVERY planet, which mean it can land on some.

Please notice that what you quoted says that the Normandy can't land on EVERY planet, not that it can't land on ANY planet.

I think it's safe to say it can't crash land on any planet and magically be rebuilt for take off.

So it doesn't land on planets with more pressure than Earth and it doesn't land on planets with less pressure aside from a few to further the plot.
I smell a plot hole.
