I always wanted to be able to control squadmates but that might be immersion breaking and Bioware didn't want that.

I remember in Gears 2, where the random AI Carmine lookalike Soldiers would actually revive you if you were downed but not killed.

Dunno why not, you can in DA. PC down? Control Wynne and cast Revive.

Exactly, it wasn't at all immersion breaking. Quite the contrary, made everything just a little less tense because if I lost all characters, I died for real. Making sure that everyone stays alive at all times is in your best interest because they can win the day if you should fall.

I always found it quite amusing when my teamates went down, I'd finnish everyone off, then they'd instantly get back up.

Grunt: Our enemys must be strong!
(Takes a few shots, then play's dead. Shepard finnishes the enemys)
Grunt: A good fight!

Your team could revive you in Republic Commando. Sort of a neat little mechanic.

Part of the issue is difficulty as well. DAO is a pretty challenging game even on normal where as ME strikes a good balance.

In other words the difficulty would have to spike up in order to accomodate playing as squadmates.

That was nice. And if I recall, you could tell em to wave off or not.

I guess, it would be a nice mechanic to use on insanity?

Killzone 3 (and maybe 2 but I can't remember) your partner revives you sometimes.

In KOTOR you could control your squaddies if you died, do not understand why you can't in ME.

That's because when you die in the campaign, you usually die so hard that you're reduced to a pulpy mass Like being stepped on by a Reaper Destroyer on Tuchanka. Or blasted to bits by one on Rannoch.

That is a fair point.

Liara T'Soni: Uh oh. Shepard has fallen. Are you field trained as a medic?
James Vega: Nope.
Liara T'Soni: I've forgotten how to use medigel. I've also fogotten my electronics skill. I've forgotten lift and throw. You know what. Let's go home.
James Vega: Good idea. I'll crack open a cold one and sing a few tunes. You drink?
Liara T'Soni: No. Alcohol and biotics are a very bad idea.

All my squaddies do when I'm downed is just scream SHEPARD!!!!! But in response to someone's mentioning of Republic Commando, I think your squaddies should do it like that =) Oh and it was also one of my favourite SW games, really hoped for a sequel back then.

The game would be way too easy if Shepard could be revived.

Nonsense. Gears of War is challenging why still having squadmates reviving marcus.
To balance this, enemy could do the same as well.
