With so many different Shepards and so many different possibilities (Male/Female, Romanced/not Romanced, etc), there is NO WAY in h*** that Bioware would have gotten it right, Since Shepard belongs as much to the player as to Bioware.  So therefore, a lack of anything concrete about Shepard post breath scene is Bioware telling US to come up with the rest.

It's not THAT hard to do. All they have to do is essentially redo the end scene from DA:O. Have Shepard walk through a long hallway with all the important/popular characters and give them all conversations like "Hey Shepard. You did this thing that is relevant to me. I'm gonna go do this now. Wanna join me later?" (yes/no) "Okay. Seeya."
Simple.

Imagine your own damn finale, you don't need bioware to make it for you, do you?

This ^^^ I hate it when people tell me to headcannon an ending that should have been clarifilied in the EC, I thought the point of the EC was to clear up what happends in the end and give closure to shepards's story not leave us with a %$#@ing cliffhannger. If you don't have twitter or if you don't go to bsn then you would have no %$#@ing idea what happends to Shepard whether he lived the explosion but dies to his injuries afterward(which the ending leads us to believe) or he survives and retires. And we shouldn't have to look for answers on bsn/twitter for things that should have been in game.

The breath scene goes hand in hand with the scene where you LI smiles and decides not to put up shepards name onto the memorial.  It is meant to give you hope and speculate that they do infact reunite.
If you hate speculating, then start picking on Inception's ending that leaves you wondering if Cobb was still dreaming or not.

Yeup. 

Citadel intact, Shep alive and Normandy airborne.  I thought it was fairly obvious.
