 I might just download that mod and look at it but for now does anyone know what's up here?  I got rid of the UT_HireFollower() function, and instead just took the code and edited it to fit in with my needs.   My code is in the next post, got messed up here.

I'll clean it up later but as for functionality right now, here's the kicker.  Everything seems to work fine, I changed the third variable sent to WR_SetFollowerState from True to False (nSendEvent) thereby co-opting that horrendous EVENT_TYPE_PARTY_MEMBER_HIRE in player_core.

BUT, when my follower joins now, he has no skills in his skill tree!  The rogue talents are there with points available, the attribute points are available, but in the skills tree, there are points available but no skills whatsoever.  What am I missing now?  Sigh..

Also I was looking through that above mentioned event and there is this SetAIBehavior function call to enable some Follower AI package?  Is that thing necessary?

Well, here's the relevant bit, having problems posting code:

SetGroupId(oFollower, GetGroupId(oPC));
WR_SetFollowerState(oFollower, FOLLOWER_STATE_LOCKEDACTIVE, FALSE, 0, TRUE);

You don't really need to touch anything.

The party picker takes care of that automatically, your follower will automatically auto level.

To get someone in your party you have to use a plot not a script (at least it's nicer :-D).

Edit for clarification:

What we did was to copypaste the module_core script to create our own (in my case "module_core_gilmore". We deleted everything that was not relevant to our npc (like inventory things, map things, money and attacking things), lest you duplicate things and break your mod (and the game).

Hm, this sounds very interesting, could you explain in a little more detail how you went about using plot flags? Did you do it in a similar way as the main companions join in Single Player?
