He really does. I tried using him, even spent a lot of money enchanging his rune. But he sucks soooo bad.

Haha! I thought so too after my first playthrough as a mage, when he refused to marry me in the landsmeet and then afterwards had the audacity to DUMP me! <_ As a fem noble i romanced Ali yet again, only I was still a bit pissed about my first playthrough, so when I came to the landsmeet i ruined everything for myself and told Ali to ****** the fck off. Hee hee hee!
Vengance, sweeeeet vengance!

I still haven't had a "happy ending". I think I am still abit pissed about his prudishness and sense of "duty". Fcking puss, won't even stand up for the woman he supposedly "loves" :(

Other than that: <3Go Alistair!<3

Hey, now. No sweeping generalizations please. This one lady here doesn't care what anybody does with Alistair. More power to you (them).

There are far better ways of getting revenge.  Don't romance him as a human noble, but marry him anyway and have him lose his virginity to Morrigan.  Oh, and after he agrees to the engagement, let him know that you're going to be trying to have a baby with someone else.  Then let your elven lover know that you want him to stick around after all those arrangements are made.  MY favorite revenge.  Gives a good ending too.

Have him be 100 love and then spare Loghain.  Sure, he yells at you and dumps you, but you know who the really hurt one is there.  Not quite as satisfying because Ali throwing a temper tantrum is pretty sad.  Of course, if you get him and Anora to marry at that point, you can still talk to him and see his pain.

Oh, I could list a lot of them.  Most involve dumping him and feeing him to the arch demon.  But the saddest thing about Alistair is after you get him in the tent and at 100 love, he usually is relieved when you dump him.  No approval loss at all.  So I suppose dumping him is not revenge!

Do you mean his personaliy, abilities in combat or both. If you have no mods(assuming you're on PC) for respecing your chars then he is probably one of the hardest charcters to level correctly.
What are you using him for? If you plan to use him as a tank, DO NOT listen to some guides or the DA:O tips that say a tank should have high constitution! That helps nothing at all. Just do 2 points in strength 1 in dexterity, alternate back & forth every other level. A high dex inscrease hit chance(so does strength) but most importantly it gives a much higher chance to evade attacks. Constitution in Origins is worthless, all it does is live a few seconds longer. My Alistair has 42 strength 38 consitution & he is a tank beyond belief!! That high Dex plus Shield Wall & taunt is all you need to keep attention & have a tank that needs very little healing.
    I hope that helps!!!

But oh, the sassy things you can say to him! His dialogue with me and his banter with other party members (especially Morrigan) are what keeps me going with him. You also have to set him up right. I don't auto-level any of my party members, and I upgrade their armor/weapons/skills as quickly as I can. I've got his tactics set up (setting up one tactic to take a poultice at 50% health does wonders for everyone), and I direct who he attacks. That solves his fighting problem.

Herr Uhl, welcome to our world. She does this to us with abandon. I'm on my 2 1/2 playthrough, but have planned ahead for quite a few more, all thanks to Ejoslin.

For the arguments sake, I think Alistar rocks.

Hes a comedian and got a great understanding of what is good and right. If you complain about his approval going down when you kill Connor then hey, it really ain't the best option in this case to resolve that dilemma. So hes whiny like a kid who didn't get his ice cream, and got the self esteem of a third grader.. but if you "harden" him he learns a lesson for his life and starts taking some more responsibility. Very well writen character.

I'm sure we haven't seen the last of him.

As a person, Alistair sucks, but as a tank, he does fine, when I can bring myself to let him out of camp, that is. His combat flaws are not his, but the player's.

Just before the final when Morrigan offers the dark promise you can refuse to sleep with her and have Alistar do it. That only works if you have a high Pesuasion skill, though.

Yeah, as a fighter Alistair's really good. He's always in my parties; that sword and board thing is nice to have along, though I don't personally like playing it. I like dual-wield so I leave the shield bashing to Alistair.

I don't care about anything 'Alistair'. He's a non-entity in my games. How I end them depends on how my PC develops during the game. I don't plan ahead, I just let it happen as it arises, and she will act depending on the current situation.

However, he can be developed into a fearsome fighter, cutting a bloody swath through any enemy line.

But so can Sten, even though with him it takes even more time and patience.

Thank goodness I have a pc, and can therefore use the respec mod.

I have found Sten to be quite effective as a tank, even w/out respec.  It still takes some patience, and investing in/finding good gear, but he can hold his own quite well.  Yeah, I have to take a heal spell on Morrigan, and I'm going to spend a lot making potions to keep him afloat, but that doesn't change the fact that he can indeed maintain threat, and that's all that is required to tank.
