Mankind, that word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences any more. We will be united in our common interest. Perhaps it's fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom. Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution, but from annihilation. We're fighting for our right to live, to existand should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice, 'We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on, we're going to survive.' Today we celebrate our independence day!"

So in honor of yesterday you wear the colors of the Dutch flag, (or the British, or French, or Russian flag), how nice of you!

And this was actually yesterday
And also it was ... just a TAD ... tongue in cheek.
And my father was born in England... (which doesn't explain how after knowing the man for 29 years i still can't muster even a passable fake english accent...) ... So yes - i very well may have done it in honor of the day "one of those pissy little colonies acted up and we had to show the world that we take these kinds of threats seriously - they just ended up not being worth or time!"
And the french DID aid the US during the revolution - and if im not mistaken we hired many dutch mercenaries during said war. And what is this "russian" flag you speak of? USSR all the way baby.
