I love violence and gore in my games. But is in really necessary for it to come spurting out like old faithful with every hit? Does your character really need to look like he just got back from a GWAR concert after every battle. I am no game designer, but i would think that it wouldn't be too difficult for the blood to be generated from the sword edge and travel in the direction of the swing with just a small stream of blood. I can understand it gushing from a decapitation. But does it need to gush every time? I would almost rather have no blood unless a critical hit was made or something like that
BLOOD! Wouldn't less, be more?

They are going for dark and gritty. Maybe they will have a option to turn it off, or down. Doubt it though.

I would agree. The amount of blood is much too high and absolutely unrealistic.

I remember one video had some guy throw a knife into another guy. Blood was spraying/spurting out of his shoulder. It was like he struck oil or something, it was comical.
I think they went a little overboard with the blood, yes, that being said I find it funny and don't really mind it.

everything alive in DA O
has a heart beating 400 times faster then your average human

Everyone knows that the human body is really 200% pressurized blood anyway, so I don't see the problem.

DA:O isn't about being realistic, it is about getting the player to feel as awesome and powerful as possible, therefore a lot of blood equals awesome. Why? Because it just is. But I agree that it might be bit to much blood and gore in this game.

I agree... the blood is overdone, and IMO it does not contribute to dark and gritty. Just wet and slimy
Based on the trailers, anyway... maybe it will be toned down a tad in actual gameplay, guess we'll see.

Blood for the blood god! ..oh, right, dwarves don't have deities. Just the Paragons. At any rate, I do agree, but there's probably some way to tone it down. Even if there weren't, someone would mod it almost immediately.
It's a bit like the "Bloody Mess" perk in Fallout. Good for a laugh.

Eh, maybe I'm weird, but I actually prefer it that way to being completely realistic. Of course, I'm the sort of person who always turns the gore up to max in Neverwinter Nights to watch the mulltiple ribcages fly out...
I'm pretty sure I remember something about there being some way to tone it down or turn it off, but it's pretty darn late and I don't really remember where I remember that from.

I want to have blood sprayed all over my face as I stand on a mountain of darkspawn corpses and prepare my essay for Global Sociology.

It does seem like there is a ton of blood in this game.

Doubt I'll notice it much when I'm playing the game rather than watching it.

I'm not sure how I feel about the blood in-game. If it becomes annoying, I can always just toggle off the gore toggle.

Where did you get this from, and do we know if it will turn all of the blood off, or just make the blood splatters a little bit more reasonable? I want solution with less blood, but still have some blood.Arttis wrote...

When it comes to games, more is more and never enough
I think it was the original Turok game that got me addicted to gore, I used to play the game intentionally aiming for someones eye knowing they'd hold their faces as the blood spurted six feet.
If I liquefy someones head as they die is a million times more gratifying.

You can turn the blood splatter off. I don't believe you have low, medium, and exploding ketchup jar type options though.

That's good news, because as much as I am looking forwards to this game the splashy splash blood everywhere is a bit much.Arttis wrote...

I don't mind some gore, but holy crow this the first RPG I've seen characters actually splattered for some time.. :/ There's just a big 'as if' that pops up in my head when I see it.

None of us can really talk as we haven't played the game. As a few people have said, it'll likely seem different when we're at the helm instead of watching videos. It might be alright.

As it's seen in the previews, it does feel over the top to me. However, as many have already stated, it's been confirmed the level of blood/gore can be adjusted via game options. I'll just set mine down to a setting that feels about right and leave it there.

It doesn't seem like to much to me. Besides if you use a realistic amount of blood it becomes to real, doesn't it? If your going to use it better to use it in large quantities so your brain goes "oh that's' fake for sure."
I don't know for sure, but I think in media including games you've got to find the right balance for blood because you don't want it to look too real.
