It's an artistic choice. I don't think it was meant to be realistic. I like it.

I dont know...I like the blood I have seen. I don't need realistic I get realistic everyday as I live in the real world. I want games to go over the top in some aspects. Makes my actions that much cooler. I love saying "holy ****" like a million times while playing games. My friends and I in fact call them holy **** moments. Like holy **** I cant believe I just did that. You get the idea.

The Evil Dead series was hilarious - I don't think DA:O's fountains of blood are supposed to be funny. I do like the persistent gore, though I'm not a fan of the huge spurts of blood in combat. I just find them distracting - it would be nice if every other hit didn't provoke an Old Faithful-like geyser of blood but rather only fatal hits or special abilities.

I've always liked games with more blood. I always turn the violence settings to max whenever possible. It seems to add a sense of heroism for me, regardless if its realistic or not. Even in NWN people would explode violently from being hit with a greatsword if you did enough damage. Realistic? No, but fun as hell to watch.

i believe a gore toggle is in the game

Where did you get this from, and do we know if it will turn all of the blood off, or just make the blood splatters a little bit more reasonable? I want solution with less blood, but still have some blood.

you can turn the blood off, that was validated by the devs. I hope, like you, for a tuning option though.

I find their portrayal of blood juvenile and over the top rather than realistic. "Mature" and "Gritty" can be expressed through other means than fountains of blood coming out of your shoulder. But hey, since there's going to be a toggle, no problem.

Same here.  Mine will be for my nursing class though, which is.. oddly appropriate and also a bit freaky when you think about it.

But yes. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!11 :o  www.youtube.com/watch

There are many Frank Miller fans that would disagree with you.

Again, we'll just have to wait to see how it is IG. So far the only huge amounts of blood we've seen has been in trailers. In the Giant Bomb video I didn't see many fountains of blood.

Due to the fact that they want this to have the gritty realistic feel the fact that they are applying blood to each swing and splattering the characters only adds to the beauty of the game. A bloodless game wouldn't feel right, but when you carve your sword into their gut I will guarantee that geysers will go off in real life, and should in game too.

I think it would've been best if they'd adopted a two-stage process a la Quake II. If you do just enough damage to kill someone, you get a bit of blood but nothing really persistent. If you do a good deal more damage than was necessary, you gib them and you're left with a cloud of blood and a pile of... well, gibs.

Gibs FTW!

Giiiiiiiibsssss...

Blood vanishes on its own as time passes. The dog companion will also lick you clean (yes, really).

I'm not sure on this last bit but I think I've heard that returning to camp cleans you as well.

Oh no the amount of blood in my Video Game  is unrealistic.  Oh no it's to much blood.  Ahhhh....

yeah...         You know what, less is never more.  More is more.  Less is less.  That saying is unrealistic.

Bioware, more blood in my drink please.

Eh, I don't mind it even though it sometimes looks really ridiculous. I'll just toggle it off if it begins to annoy me.

Can I have a little less game in my pool of gore filled blood please?

Also, my favorite drinking song...

Sociocultural Anthropology for me.

I'm really divided on the blood issue. Sometimes I want to see lots of blood, sometimes I don't. Turn-off option GO!

I guess the big thing is what we'll see in-game. Blood spraying everywhere for minutes at a time would probably just make me giggle, but if there's a huge blood gush every so often, it would certainly make me take notice of the carnage I'm wreaking.
