I'm not saying I expect the gameplay to look like the trailer, but I do expect the trailer to include actual game cinematics - this isn't a movie theatre poster, you know?

When so many in-game cinematics are rendered outside of the actual game engine, there's no reason the in-game cinematics can't actually look like the trailer - you know? Not even hardware reasons - that youtube vid could play on a P3, you know?

I was also expecting the game would play like the trailer (not expecting the gameplay to look like it precisely, though).

Don't feel bad. It took me a couple views before I realized that guy was supposed to be the PC and not Alistair, too.

What? Playing a video/animation and rendering an entire area in such detail and keeping everything else going that is required for a game, so completely different things your talking about I'm aghast you could even dream of something that idiotic. You know? seriously! What are you people FEEDING them!

I'm talking about the pre-rendered CGI (the Ostagar battle, for example), not the game-rendered stuff.

#1: I want Leliana to talk like that in my party instead of giggling all the damn time (What she said before shooting what I must assume is AoS at the Emissary was epic)

#2: Make shapeshifting like this maybe?

#3: Portions of the trailer were shipped with the game as the "Title Screen" Intro, you can find it with the credits and I always wondered if there was more to it.

Now on topic, I just hate Dunken to begin with so lets just say I watched the opening once and have skipped it every time being that I want as little to do with the man as possible.(Yes they have the right of conscription yada yada yada, but damnit, the human noble origin made me hate him. A Teyrn is about to lose everything and he blackmails him into taking his only *known* surviving offspring and giving him/her what is effectively a death sentence that could be carried out anytime between immediately and 30 or so years from now)

The space required! So many factors I'm so... there isn't words in vocabulary to describe what I'm feeling right now.

Bioware used to have no qualms about producing 5 disk games.

They also didn't create games for three different platforms.

Were they working with EA then by any chance? You know it probably took months to create that trailer right?

I used to think Interplay was teh devil back in the day, too! LOL

You know it took months to create the in-game CGI, too, right?

If you take the same amount of time on the trailer and the same amount of time on an in game cut scene the effort between making them would be hugely different. Characters models and everything is already there to create the cut scene in game. The stuff of the trailers quality is a very different kettle of fish .

That's not true. None of that armor is actually available in-game, nor are many of the facial features. And the area where the Ostagar movie takes place isn't actually viewable in-game, so it had to be designed too.

Not to mention, as the heir, you are now most likely sterile.  It would be one thing if you could take a break from wardening to sire (or birth) a few bastards to carry on the Cousland line.  On the other hand, at that point in the game the assumption is that Fergus will survive the battle at Ostagar, since the king assumes an easy victory.

But I'm with you, I hate Duncan, too.  He's an unfeeling jerk in every origin I've played through (four so far), and I always choose the snarkiest responses now to put him in his place.

That isn't CGI, that's a video-capture of the in-game engine.

Have you ever worked with Maya or a tool set before? If so... you're seriously going to tell me it would take the same amount of time and effort to make that scene in the quality of the Trailer?

Yeah the king assumes easy battle but I guess I always thought that Howe had something to do with sending him off early and probably had an assassin or two looking in on him. Granted Fergus turns out just fine at the end of the game, the majority of my Noble's time was spent making as many bastards as he could with as many women as he could find.

Off-topic, I was dismayed by how few people actually recognize you as a Human Noble. I'm not saying you should be a rock star or anything, but even the few other nobles that actually recognize you say something stupid like, "Have we met before?"

I'm the child of the one of the two Duke-level nobles in the entire kingdom. And I'm single. I should be the most eligble bachelor/ette in Ferelden.

I guarantee you that the Duke of Sutherland knows every unmarried nobleman in England for the interests of his granddaughter.

I thought the Dwarven part of the opening cinematic was awesome, the rest was fine.

But then, I'm also one of those people who remembers MUDs, P n P, the old-school Gold Box games and BG1, so when people complain about any aspect of the graphics in this game, my reaction continues to be a confused "What?"

I really liked the opening cinematics. It efficiently introduces the history of the darkspawn, it is stirring and Duncan is a great character. I thought it introduced the story well.

Also it looked even better compared to the other pre-release Dragon Age trailers which a lot of people were complaining about.

There are plenty of threads in the Spoilers section outlining the Leli romance triggers. But, yeah, probably.

Yeah, interesting how little your noblesse means really.
But what really offends me is Alistair on the loosing someone subject. I mean, here I am, I lost my Father, Mother, Brother (assumingly), sister-in-law and nephew, plus I lost my lands and castle - and he lost.... Duncan?!? Yet he is whining about his loss all the time and I am soothing him and in the end he doesnt even REMEMBER I lost anyone at all.
If that doesnt say what exactly his "love" means...

I lost all my love for Alistair when I played my lil city elf hottie and tried to romance him.

And then I played a human noble female and his excuse from the hottie playthru turned into a "for want of trying" sex-joke.

I ****ing hate him now.

Uhm,..we downloaded all the trailers on the PS3 too, including the Sacred Ashes one. But we both knew those weren't made with in game footage, it's pretty obvious. There were also enough clips that WERE made with in game footage, so you knew what the game looked like before you bought it.

Actually, I'm kind of happy that Leliana isn't the same, I thought she really had a douchebag voice in the Sacred Ashes trailer. Even though she looks...hotter...she also looks meaner. But she isn't like that at all!

That said, I really do like the shortened version of the trailer with the 30 second to mars song :)
