And Traynor's working in the ones that stops Cerberus from rendering Shep's hard work moot. So yeah I consider that one upping. And that's all I'm saying on this subject to you.

Thanks to her you know about Grissom Academy, the Cerberus refugees and Sanctuary. She is way more useful than Liara as Shadow Broker.

I agree, it's a shame that  you don't have the option to get rid of Liara if you wanted to  in ME3 and have Traynor replace her as the Shadow Broker. She'd probably do a better job then Liara ever did.

Oh, good grief, more of this?  Look.  The writers took stuff away from Liara and gave it to Traynor to justify her existence.  And that's fine, because I really liked Traynor.  But do we have to trash Liara in the process?  I don't get the hate.  It's so damn... petty.

I don't hate Liara's character I just don't like her character overall. And the keyword in my comment was 'if'.

Honestly I agree. There's absolutely NO reason for Liara to be forced on the Normandy. None. Nothing important that she does requires her to be on the ship. She should be working on the Crucible along with all the other scientists and prothean experts. Her being on the ship to my Shepard is a complete waste of her usefulness. He has enough fighters on his squad. He doesn't need more.

Repeating nonsense doesn't make it more true. Traynor monitors military comm traffic for the Alliance. That's her job. The SB relies on agents and Liara is pretty much 100% focused on the Crucible. It's even explained (in-game) why she has no information about cerberus.

You consider wrongly. The reason you don't notice the things Liara's working on as problems in the wider galaxy is that she's doing it right.

The Normandy is a mobile and stealthy base, a necessity in her line of work. If someone else was tracking the Shadow Broker and made it back to the Crucible, it may go rather badly.

Err... she's from London. She really is English.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2542896/

The rest is true. Showering in your underwear is just plain stupid, but I suspect that's rating related and she is definitely annoying.

Showering in her underwear was not part of the character, but a simple cencsorship. Or do you think it's part of her identity now?

And the last point? Subjective.

My nephew Alan also agrees he told me that is his own opinion, Traynor is like Kelly in ME2, only better and less annoying. And they could have had Liara be replaced  by someone else as a squadmate in ME3 like Grunt or Kasumi for example.

Sadly though they didn't do that.

traynor is for that small group of us who despise the LI system but occasionally want to bang for entertainment purposes only. that leaves the secretaries: kelly and traynor. that's her purpose. and she accomplishes that--at least if you're a femshep.

long live the hot personal assistants with minimal emotional needs.

I couldn't stand Kelly. Traynor's pretty good though.

It would've been nice if she was replaced by...anyone really.

@Xili: And the Crucible is being built in a top secret area that the Reapers can't find. She'd been fine there. The Normandy (I.E. the big old target that goes to predetermined areas) isn't a good place to hide. Her communications could've been done remotely or through Feron (obviously her communications are already encrypted) so yeah no excuse to stick herself on the Normandy regardless. The Crucible project would've been just fine with her there instead of on Shep's ship doing things she could do there anyway.

Wasn't that part of Liara's archaeological job? It wasn't about intel, since Hacket assigned her to this (though I could be wrong on this, I admit).

It seems they'll explain it a bit more in Liara's "homeworld" comic.

Mass Effect: Redemption's Liara T'Soni returns to comics in a story by
her Mass Effect 3 writer, Sylvia Feketekuty! Now controlling the
resources of the Shadow Broker, Liara embarks on a galaxy-spanning
mission to find information that can prevent the imminent Reaper attack.
Her search turns up deadly secrets and brings her right to the
beginning of BioWare's latest blockbuster!

So I presume you'd want her to be optional, but allow for the chance of her being permanent as well?

You make great points and I agree with them. Though Kelly wasn't as annoying as Ashley, never liked her much. Trayor I liked better then Kelly and Liara combined.

And you are right anyone.heck even Conrad Verner could have replaced Liara as a squadmate. Shepard could always use live bait to draw the attention of the Reapers away

Yup. As long as she's not forced on me others having her as a permma squaddie? NP.

I was hoping it'd be like the VS situation. After Mars she either asks or Shep invites her to the Normandy and she comes or if not (or Shep rejects her request) she goes to the Crucible.

Least would've had some variation.

It takes no intelligence for any reasonable chess player to defeat someone who has no idea how to play.

The real question is why Shepard challenged her to a game at all.

He clearly doesn't know the game at any level.  Based on his post-game comments, if he had played a single-game prior to that I'd be impressed.

Probably he misunderstood "playing chess" to be some sort of sexual innuendo based on how heavily every character in ME3 lays it on him.

Chess is a major go-to "this is a smart person" cultural shorthand in the West, I suspect because very few people in the West actually play chess past the age of ten. If she'd stomped Shepard at go I'd be a lot more impressed with both her and her writers, but I suppose I did still get the message they were sending, and if it had been go a lot of the audience wouldn't have, so there you go.

Heck no. Verner actually should've been sent to the Crucible too. Don't know why he wasn't a WA (in addition to his dissertation). At least then he'd do...something useful.

I wouldn't have even cared if I didn't get a squaddie replacement (I kill off Tali and if I lose out on a squadmate? Whatever. Worth it for not having her forced on my squad).

Well, if it can cut down on the number of people complaining about Liara, it's definitely worthy but for one problem: she's one of only two people on your squad and you need both her and James to go anywhere.

They could have just given EDI a body one mission earlier.

Could've had it so the VS was available for longer or just let the player be able to use only 2 squaddies and give Garrus immediately once the player hit Palaven (though if Garrus is dead there becomes another issue. Maybe have a guest character in his stead for that mission since right after that you get EDI). (while locking the Cerberus side quest and Eden Prime mission until after Shep went to Palaven).

Also what the poster above me said.

Were we having negotations on this, I would agree to this if we could also get rid of James and replace him with someone maybe halfway interesting.

No replacements. I don't have a replacement for Liara. She's simply gone. Her only replacement is someone I can use temporarily on a mission until I get 2 permanent squadmates. (which...really ins't a replacement more like a guest character).

I would approve the same with James though.

Honestly the player should be allowed to solo the game if he/she wants to do it.
