Storywise, where do you think the DLC fits in?

Stone Prisoner: I did Shale right after Lothering but I think it can be done anytime. You could explain it away by saying you stumble on the merchant and then want to investigate further.

Warden's Keep: Originally, I thought the best place for this was also right after Lothering. After completing the game I'm thinking the best place for it would be before going to Denerim for the Landsmeet. I'm sure more Nobles would join your side if you have a HQ.

Return to Ostagar: I thinking about doing this right before the Landsmeet itself. I mean imagine walking into the Landsmeet with Alistair decked out in Cailan's armor.

Well that's my opinion what's yours?

I liked the sound of "Alistair decked out in Cailan's armor" He would have to give it back to me after though ;)

I think Warden's keep makes sense if its just after Lothering, since you want to build up the wardens from nothing, maybe just after having that convo with Alistair about it.

Stone Prisoner: It can be done pretty much any time before the landsmeet and fit pretty well, in my opinion.

Return to Ostagar: Perhaps after the first main plot line is completed? It would seem rather stupid to return to the battlefield mere days after the defeat.

Warden's Keep: Somehow I've always felt that Warden's Keep fitted best AFTER the whole game. I know chronologically it will always take place before the landsmeet, but I just didn't feel like it had any importance at all to the main plot. "Yay we secured a Grey Warden fortress, but we are all gonna die in the impending invasion, cause of the time wasted here..."

Don't worry, the Darkspawn are polite enough to wait for you before starting their invasion. You can do as many laps around Ferelden as you please yet their patience will never wane.

Not to mention it has NO relevance to the game whatsoever...
If it was more inline with the rest of the campain it'd be fun, like Stone Prisoner, Shale is a part of the whole Campain if he's part of the party...

Soldiers Peak is just a shabby chest that should've been in the camp (and was until they made it a sellingpoint for the DLC) and a smith... Great Help THAT was in getting the army assembled...
Talk about wasted time, gogo Darkspawn Incursion!:bandit:

If only more towns could be destroyed :innocent:

Stone Prisoner can happen anywhere BEFORE dwarf city!

Dwarf city is the only truely relevant place for Stale to be active and present as he opens/unlocks bonus dwarf area (if you side with golems of course) at end of Deep Roads.

Otherwise Stone Prisoner fits anywhere you want really.

My normal route now is

Lothering
Stone Prisoner
Wardens Keep
Redcliffe
Redcliffe Castle
Mage Tower
Redcliffe Castle
Denerim
Haven
Denerim
Redcliffe Castle
Ozammar
Side Quests
Denerim
Dalish Elves
Landsmeet

This feels like Cannon to me to be honest and makes the most sence story wise

I feel like lorewise, you return to Ostagar only after the archdemon has been defeated. You were nearly killed at Ostagar, so to say you want to return straight after Lothering might be pushing it. It may be possible gameplay wise, but lorewise it doesn't make sense.

Makes perfect sense.

One Grey Warden wants to find Duncan and the King ..the other..may want to find his brother...Fergus...and others may wish to find the King too...

In Character you don't know for sure who all survived for sure.. and a scout party looking for survivors isn't uncalled for.

I'm not saying the emotional need to find the king and Duncan doesn't make sense. That part makes perfect sense and I agree.

But I'm talking about the feasible part. You were nearly killed at Ostagar, and it was only thanks to Flemeth that you survived. There are too many darkspawn at Ostagar. To say that you can waltz in after Lothering is pushing it, because you were only nearly killed a few days ago. If you had the strength to beat the entire horde, surely you didn't need Flemeth's help in escaping then. And you cannot possibly have newfound strength to push through the horde with just Morrigan and a dog as extra companions.

And once you've gotten the treaties, maybe then you have the strength to tackle the Archdemon at Ostagar. But by then the Archdemon moved immediately to Denerim, so you have to have forced march to attack it. You can send an escort mission to Ostagar once the darkspawn have moved out, but lorewise, YOU the character are compelled to kill the Archdemon first, and cannot spare any time to visit Ostagar casually.

So that's why lorewise you can only do Ostagar after the Archdemon is killed.

I think "Returning to Ostagar" on your way or after killing Flemeth (or making a deal with her) would make sense.
But you can do this part anytime during the main campaign or even choose not to do it.

The Archdemon was never at Ostagar. The horde was, but nobody ever saw the Archdemon there.

Ok true. But storywise or lorewise, you only return to Ostagar once the Archdemon is killed. Storywise, the game doesn't really allow you to casually visit Ostagar with the urgency of ending the Blight.
