The best thing you can do with shredder ammo is to use LotSB to respec the free point so he doesn't override one of the more useful ammo types, such as ap, warp, incendiary or cryo.

For yourself or for Thane? If its for Thane, take The Grey Ranger's advice and reassign his points.

If it is for you, change your bonus power because Shredder Ammo is the worst ammo power in the game. You have better bonus power options.

I assume you are referring to your own squad cryo ammo for Thane, since Thane does not have cryo ammo (modding excepted)?

Cryo Ammo, always cryo ammo. Shredder Ammo is just not worth it.
