...and man tears were indeed shed. There was also happy tears mixed in there, as what my City Elf had been fighting for all this time had come to fruition (A better life for city elves).

Anyone else shed a tear for their departed Wardens?

I don't remember that far back but it was emotional. It was my first finish and it was with a dwarf. Ultimate Sacrifice use to be my favorite ending though I only it did it once with the main character dying. I thought it beautiful with the funeral.

Sten's epilogue text if you sacrifice the Warden, is one of the few instances that I was truly saddened in a game:

"Sten bowed once before the Warden's remains and then left without saying a word...When fellow Qunari asked if there were worthy people outside of Par Vallon Sten answered that in all his travels he had only met a single one."

I agree – the Ultimate Sacrifice ending is very emotional! My character Raya, a Dalish mage, made the ultimate sacrifice to save her love, Alistair, and the funeral and epilogue were very moving.

It's always bothered me, though, that Alistair doesn't get a funeral if he makes the ultimate sacrifice – it seems like a real missed opportunity. I'm glad that I found the "Alistair's Funeral" mod on DA Nexus. Now that I think of it, it would actually have been very interesting to see Loghain's funeral as well.

I chose Ultimate sacrifice for second playthrough, mainly out of spite for morrigan. But after seeing Leliana cry over my dude, I had to go back and change it making Alistair do it. Could'nt leave Lel's by herself.

Yea, I felt there should have been a funeral for the other warden (Alistair or Loghain) instead of a freaking party at the end.  Bioware kind of dropped the ball there.  Both a dead Alistair and dead Loghain get one throwaway line either from Wynne "The poor boy" or Anora (who asks how her father died).  Very poor showing IMO.

And the first time it happened to me it was the "Warden Commander" ending on my Male Cousland.  Alistair and he were best buds and brothers in arms and when I saw the non-recognition I just screamed incoherently at my computer monitor for 5 minutes.

As for the US, the funeral was lovely (both Mr Valentine and Ms Simmons deliver a fine performance there).  I got all choked up when I saw Leliana's card and realized she was brokenhearted to lose her love (Male Cousland)--to the point where my daughter was laughing at me for getting that emotional over a game.  Sten's was also lovely.  The story ended, but it ended positively.  Yes, the warden was dead but he gave up so much so that the land he loved and the people he cared for would live on past him.Posted Image
