I couldn't care less about your petulance.
I'm not arguing with you. Simple enough, right?
Wasn't talking to you, buttercup. That was for Ventus.
Then we've come to a consensus.
Why would being called buttercup offend me? I find it endearing, personally.

You mean you lost your moral high ground you never had in the first place? You mean I revealed the real you? When the chips are down "civilized" people will tear each other apart.
I am not the one that has been throwing around insults in this thread. Go back and read your little hissy fit.

This is 100% fact, shown within the game when the head Reaper itself not only promotes synthesis as the best thing ever, but admits that it tried it before.
The only 100% fact is that the Catalyst didn't just keep that platform moving after lifting you and just toss your body into the Synthesis option.
I mean if the Reapers really wanted that, and its really a form of 'mind control' like people say, then your willing participation in the process is not necessary. And it wasn't like there weren't other bodies it could have used. Like TIM who clearly got there ahead of you.
And the most important point is it left the other two buttons turned on. That doesnt say 100% to me.
Just because someone tried something once, it doesn't mean they want it. Like my mom made me taste her meatloaf once, which I hated. But many years later I tried someone else's meatloaf and it wasn't so bad. That doesnt mean I had a secret Meatloaf agenda.
...or does it?
Contrived as the reasons for spacebaby presenting the 3 options may be, whether it be because it's shackled (year right) or the Crucible is forcing it or whatever, they're there all the same.
This doesn't change the fact that synthesis is what it wants. It's not like it can physically shove you into the beam anyway.

If they actually showed some regret for their actions and were suicidal I might not be so annoyed at the ending.
But they don't.

Well yes... they present the option after all.
Don't ask me why they decide to do something so stupid (only stupid with metaevidence) but it doesn't stop the fact we shouldn't trust them nor the fact that it was they who created the choices from the crucible.

I asked if Legion said a specific thing. You did not provide it. Ergo, why would I waste my time looking at something I know for a fact is not what I am looking for?
Remind me what my argument was, because I don't recall ever enforcing one.

It encourages diversity - Synthesis is the only ending where you don't have to destroy or enslave any of the races. It plays up to the theme in ME that it is better to make friends out of our enemies than to destroy them (Rachni, Krogan, Geth, Omega Mercs and so on...)
What? Homogenization promotes diversity?
Your list is also poor. The rachni, krogan, geth, and mercenary enemies you fight aren't part of a unified whole, bent on a singular purpose. The hostile rachni are mindless animals, the krogan are under Saren's influence, the geth are heretics, and the mercenaries are, well, mercenaries.
Humans are all made of the same things, and I doubt many people would argue that our species is homogenized. So why do people assume this about Synthesis.
There is nothing in the Synthesis ending that suggests every sentient being is now identical. This was a valid speculation before the EC, but it has been proven wrong. People should really stop using the homogenization argument.

Once again. There is no co-existence if they are made the same.
But they aren't made the same. The organic-hybrids are not the same as the synthetic hybrids. They're still two different people, they're just connected and have (according to the game's explanation) reached an understanding of each other. Why you believe this has sinister implications is beyond me.
All I claimed as factual in this topic was the fact that the Reapers want synthesis and have tried it before.
The Catalyst is creator, controller and embodiment of the Reapers, hence it's will is the Reapers will, hence my statement.
Anything else I say on synthesis is supported by the themes of Mass Effect and events of the games. I let those speak for themselves.
...Did you miss the Catalyst's entire dialog? I'll quote it:
"My creators gave them form, I give them function, they give me purpose."
He is not the creator of the Reapers, passively their controller (it's quite obvious he can't just shut them off), and "embodiment"? No. He was created before the Reapers, he can't be the embodiment of something before it existed. And the Reapers themselves don't HAVE a directive individually, or a will. They can communicate, yes, but they cannot act on their own accord (Well, possibly Leviathan, but that's speculation until any actual DLC hits the market).
The themes of Mass Effect and the events ofthe game, ironically, support that Synthesis IS a positive and beneficial outcome. So yeah, those do speak for themselves.

The fail is strong in this one.
Really? I don't remotely see the similiarites between a man who was clinically insane with an outrageous racial hatred who abused political systems and the biases of a nation to spark a World War and a misguided AI created to solve a problem and found a solution, even it wasn't one pleasing to organic sensibilities.

After which Shepard wakes up (and is already awake by the time the Catalyst approaches).

Amount of Keepers on the bottom of the Citadel = 0. Again, this isn't the issue anyway.

Of course I did. The Geth understood what Reapers were. They had several theories and the trip to the Collector Base allowed them to decide on which one was right (i.e. "billions of organic minds.")
Did you even play ME2? You must have, going by your avatar, but I'm honestly not sure.

No this isn't about the morality or lack thereof of synthesis, there are enough topics about that.
Here I ask.... if we are to believe that the Crucible was designed by some unknown organic race and improved upon in the following eons... why does it have an option for synthesis?
Not only is it what the Reapers want. But think about this. Really think about this. The people who designed/added to the Crucible wouldn't be thinking "We need to merge with synthetics for greater understanding/final evolution of life/blah blah blah!". They'd be thinking "Oh my god those giant metal cuttlefish are going to kill us, we need to build something to stop them."
I really have to wonder what kind of mentality would see giant metal killbots and think "You know what would be a good idea? Merging our bodies with them!".
