That was a good read... it reminded me of this classic bit with Kevin Smith:

Because people have no taste. I tried to watch the last one and got about 10 minutes in and had to turn it off.
I usually don't hate on movies, and I love Milla, but that series is absolute garbage.

I know that there haven't been any official updates on the progress of the ME film, but it was initially slated for 2012. I think we know that isn't going to happen.
The hired screenwriter is Mark Protosevich, and his claim to fame is that he wrote I Am Legend, which to be fair wasn't a horrible film, but if you look at the rest of his body of work you'll see that he isn't exactly batting 1000.
According to Rotten Tomatoes:

I know that ME3 just ended, and it's a bit early to start thinking about the next big thing for this franchise, but I thought it would make for an interesting discussion.

It's been a long time since I've seen it, but I remember loving the cinematography and visuals of it more than the premise. I think the script is largly forgettable. Still I agree it was interesting subject matter.

Well, I was saying it's easy to screw up a good screenplay. It speaks for itself that a bad screenplay usually translates into a bad movie, but I haven't read Protosevich's screenplays so I don't know where it all went wrong.mcgreggers99 wrote...

While I agree with the idea that no writer shoul be judged on someone's interpretation of their work, the job of a screenwriter is to create something compelling to bring to the screen. Some of the best screenplays ever written can be read like novels and you can almost see the film in your head as you read them, but the bad ones start off with a bad premise and just get worse in the execution of the ideas. Even good directors often can't save bad screenplays.

Yeah there are so many voices and people who think they know what will help the product that often a writer's voice is completely lost by the time a film reaches the screen. I feel ya.
I think that's why the Chris Nolan's, and Joss Whedon's of the world are as good as they are. You have incredibly creative people who are good at some things and masters at others. They do what they do best, but they have an active role in the entire production from start to finish. That is how you create something with one voice and still ensure that it get's the criticism and assistance when needed.

Afterlife wasn't that bad especially with some of the other Hollywood based movies. From what I've heard that some people didn't like it based on how there was no explaination between the beginning of it and the end of Extinction, which I can understand but that really isn't needed.mcgreggers99 wrote...

If thats true then why are RE fans of the games/movies and the general movie goers still spending their csh to produce triple digit box offices for the RE movie installments.AresKeith wrote...

That can be one of the reasions why I like the RE movies based on how they are high budget B movies while you really can't have an A based zombie movie. I'm surrpised on how some people just freakout over video game movies because they're just as good as most of the comic book movies and people will put their own spin on thier adaptions.mcgreggers99 wrote...
Yeah, the sad thing is that I really really wanted to like those movies. I tried so hard to like them. I guess I feel like they are the modern equivalent of B movies I used to rent in the early 90's when I had a Saturday night to kill and I had nothing to do. Lots of explosions, I'll give them that.
I'm still really hoping that this movie winds up being amazing. I always hope for the best.
Why would that be since Seth Green doesn't match most of the descriptions for Joker especially when we're talking about height and acting requirements. I love Seth Green while he isn't qualified for the physical, which is a hazard of being a voice actor.Edolix wrote...
Lost hope for the movie the moment they said that they wern't going to bring in Seth Green to play as Joker.

Yet there would be more "fan" rage based on a separate movie while no video game based movie has done that anyways. Its different when you have the freedom in an Anime or animated based movie then a live action movie. The adapations are made mainly for movie goers not for the fans.Commodore Q wrote...
The film will suck, I still don't know how they thought it would be a good idea. A new story based in in the ME universe... would of been alright... but a film based of Mass Effect 1... beyond terrible.
