Gee, who would've thought with the way XIII-2 ended?

People are putting too much hope on VersusXIII. You'll expect too much from it and no matter how great it may be it wouldn't meet expectations unless people lower their own. Well, unless the game turns out to be ****. In which case you get smug self-satisfaction.

Lol, if XIII-3 actually doesn't come out (unlikely at this point) then you'ld have to admit it'd be a pretty ballsy way to end that universe.

Keep throwing your money at the screen OP and I'll keep grabbing. Something has to happen eventually!

My expectations: A Final Fantasy game that plays like Kingdom Hearts. The devs seem to have that covered so I'm good. If that ends up not being the case...makeshift noose here I come!

This franchise is basically dead to me. So many great gaming memories. I haven't played a good FF since FFX...

And I've basically given up all hope on FFXIII Versus. Typical Japanese development. Terrible management, slow development cycles, then release a mediocre product by the time it does come out. They're so far behind the rest of the world today. Very select few Japanese devs are "great" anymore. Namely the Catherine/Shin Megami Tensei devs and Dark Souls/Demon's Souls devs. Old Square is dead. They use to release nothing but masterpeices. Vagrant Story, Chrono Trigger, FF, FF:Tactics, etc.

FF doesn't have emotion in their games anymore. At all. Since they lost the FF father after FFX, their characters are lifeless.

Never will they capture moments like this again: www.youtube.com/watch

www.youtube.com/watch

Lost Odyssey was made by the FF father on 360 and it has more life and emotion in it than any recent FF game. It's more FF than any FF game been since FFX...

Don't know who said it recently (maybe it what Yazthzee), but the FF series has become a mockery in itself. Just the naming convention itself is hillarious.

Personally I'm waiting for Final Fantasy Versus CXVIII-X: The Fourth Coming of Hearts: Prefix Suffix Verb Adjective.

Only way Square will ever get my money is if they released an entirely faithful remake of FF6.

But that'll never happen.

Even though I wasn't a huge fan of XIII-2 I'm interested to see where they take it from here. I strongly believe Lightning is the best thing to happen to that franchise since Auron so, I'm in.

Entirely faithful usually means very little changes. Might as well just play the FFVI that's out already.

Oh good, more gullible sheep falling hook, line and sinker for Square's business plan - sucker the consumer into buying lots of DLC and cash-in sequels. Thank God XIII-2 didn't sell that well.

Let's not forget that XIII-2 concluded with a non-ending that probably would have been as bad as the ME3 controversy had more people played it. The game literally ended on a cliffhanger without resolving anything, along with a "secret" ending that consisted of the villain thumbing his nose at the player. Better yet, the story was "resolved" in the DLC, which killed off the main protagonist after a game's worth of character development.

FF has been slowly circling the drain for years - the sooner people stop supporting this garbage, the better.

Sounds to me that they're just trying to save the FNC setting they've invested so much in over the years.

XIII was unsatisfying in almost every regard with the automated combat, linear maps, and relatively bland story. XIII-2 just went bat**** with the story suddenly throwing time-travel and paradoxes into the mix with an ending that was arguably worse than ME3... they also barely improved the combat. All the while they've only scratched the backround mythology the setting is based on and when they did bring a few elements of it to the stage in XIII-2 it was muddled in all the the time-travel nonsense.

Versus is going to come out in 20never and this (XIII-3) will most likely just extend the disappointment.

I strongly believe Lightning is the best thing to happen to that franchise

I know she has a lot of fans and I'm probably not doing myself any favors for saying this, but I didn't like her at all. I'm all for cool female protagonists, but her backround is that she's a... small-town cop and I'm supposed to find it believable that she's the baddest badass ever? They lost me with her when they dedicated a significant part of XIII to her raging against the machine, in other words working to destroy her home and government because of an irrational hissy fit she was having.

Haha yeah, she's a glorified animal control worker and she acts like she's been through several wars. Her Persona and background aren't credible in the least.

Other than her visual design she doesn't have much going for her as a character.

lolwut? XIII-2 sold 2.44 milion copies. That's pretty well. And the whole controversy over the "To be continued" ending is a sack of crap. If they were planning on having it be a trilogy when they started XIII-2 then how is having part 2 end with "to be continued" a bad thing? If at the end of Empire strikes back it said that would people have been butt hurt? I mean seriously. And about the DLC. I was a might confused by the way the final DLC ended, but in truth, it was basically a perfect set up for a XIII-3, so once again, if they are planning a XIII-3 then I see no problem with it.

She was a soldier. And the "irrational hissy fit" was wanting to stop a government run by godlike beings that basically keep humainty as pets and turn them into monsters to do their bidding when they want something done. And they kinda also killed her sister.
