So, I wonder if time travel will be the main feature of the game, like XIII-2. Or if it will introduce a new gameplay feature that hasn't been in the series before.

Well at the end of XIII-2 the devices that allowed time travel were more or less deactivated. So I think it will probably ake place mostly in the 500AF time where they were at the end of XIII-2 while sometimes switching to where ever and whenever Light was at the end of her DLC epsiode.

Where does that say anything positive about the narrative? Just because people have personal perferences doesn't mean that they can't be bad. Some people prefer to save their urine in 2 liter coke bottle, doesn't mean that these things are good to decorate your house with.

Well then by that logic I guess it's majority rule right? Or maybe everyone can just agree to disagree?

I don't know what you're trying to say. Cause based on critical and commercial numbers XIII was a great game. With an above average aggragated score and over six million copies sold. Now I don't think that makes a game great. I think it's personal preference that makes us decide what games we think are great. Where some reviewrs and fans disliked the narrative, others loved it. My personal favorite review for XIII was the Games Radar review because barring one point, I agreed with almost everything that person felt about the game. But then, you have others that hated it. My thing is that there is no bar by which every story and every character is measured by, otherwise things would be very boring. XIII is very different from the older FF games, and I personally like that. I loved VI and VII but XIII is my favorite. Does that make my preference bad? I played those older games and liked them, so I must have some sense right? I understand that you don't like XIII and your reasons are logical and understandable. But some of the very things you hated about it are things I loved about it. So I can respect your opinion and agree to disagree.

/rant.

Hell, I don't know how I can put any easier. You stated that most (most, are word that means the greater majority) critics enjoyed the story and narrative. I asked for proof of this sweeping praise, and you gave me an example a review that loved everything EXCEPT the story and narrative (please see the problem here, my head is beginning to hurt).

Now instead of seeing this, you move on to stating that it sold well and was reviewed well. You can also say that 13-2 only sold 1/3 as well as 13. That is over half of the people that purchased the first game did not purchase the second, while still financally viable, is a sharp decrease. And, especially in America, volume of sales does not equate to its quality (see Nickleback, Twilight, Transformers movies, etc).

"I loved VI and VII but XIII is my favorite. Does that make my preference bad?" Please see my earlier comment about people that decorate their houses with 2 liter bottles of their urine.

Okay. The MAJORITY of XIII's reviews are positive. In fact, 83% is a large majority. Whether or not every reviewer loved the story I don't know, but to give a game completely in service to it's story a positive review I think it's safe to assume they at least enjoyed the story a little. So if that counts as proof then there, if not I'm not gonna read every review to find out.

I said that I don't think sales and high reviews make a game good. I said that quite clearly. However, the MAJORITY of the feedback for XIII from both consumers and critics was positive. That's what I'm saying. That's ALL I'm saying. That doesn't mean it's a great game for everyone. I acknowledged that there are people that hate it. I disagree with them. As far as XIII-2 goes, I loved it, but I prefer XIII and apparently so did the MAJORITY of critics based on their scores for it. So maybe that's why it sold so much less. Or yes, maybe a lot of ppl didn't like the original so they skipped the sequel. But to be fair, a lot of ppl hated X-2 (the minority though) but it still did well (not as well as X however).

So then my preference is bad then? I guess they should just remake VII and VI and Tactics over and over because they were so classic...

What?! Sazh and Snow are as manly as they come! Have you seen Sazh? Like, at all!?

This. Snow and Sazh are pretty manly characters. Real men have chocobo chicks in their afros.

Or he's just a near giant compared to the others.

Pretty sure this is it. Snow's actually really ****ing tall.

The only thing Auron and Lightning have in common is that their surrounding cast is mostly crap. Lightning is still a bad character.

I disagree so much with this statement.

I mean, Tidus may have had his crap moments -- "HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA" -- but I wouldn't go so far as to say he's crap himself. Hell, I wouldn't even say the surrounding cast in either game is crap.

Only with out all the suck. The demo videos for VSXIII alone are better than that swill.

I don't really find any particular Final Fantasy character to be boring for the most part. Though I will say that there are trollish characters, like Seymour Guado from X and Barthandelus in XIII, especially when you hear his trollish laughter.

This tbh. Trollish space pope was a dbag. But I agree that I have never found any FF character boring. They're all to strange to be boring.

Agreed.

Though Seymour's more of a sadistic, psychologically tormented, and never knows when to quit type of douchebag then he is a trollish character, IMO.

Barthandelus -- A.K.A Super-Pope -- however.... he's a troll. Definitely a troll. An awesome character if you ask me, but still a troll.

I own a trenchcoat. Now I just need a fedora. And a tommy gun.

Hey, I am Italian, after all.

I wouldn't mind an overcoat either.

android654 wrote...

No, it's just that people here don't dress up like mental patients. Does anyone honestly own trenchcoats?

I do.

And we live in a society where people will have their jeans down around their kneecaps. I've seen people dress in much weirder ways then Snow Villiers.

And I don't consider how Snow dresses to be weird at all, really.

I do.

But I live on a university campus so that's hardly an outfit that'd be considered weird. Hell, when I've ran out of clean clothes I'll just wear a halloween outfit (e.g this) and I still don't stand out that much in comparison to others.

Well, Snow is manly enough to have at least some appeal to the Western male and female players alike... It's only his attitude that I don't like... and his XIII-2 haircut.

@Logan Child

So I could reply

@GL

"So then my preference is bad then? I guess they should just remake VII and VI and Tactics over and over because they were so classic..."

I never stated that they should remake old games or touch old universes, like what they did with the follow up to FF4 and the Advance Tactics games. FFT, 7, and 6, along with the Chrono and Secret of Mana games are unique gems that should remain untouched, like George Lucas should stay away from the original trilogy.

I just want them to make good games.

@TEWR

I'm not going to discuss the 13 problem, since it is wildly known. But, for 10:

Tidus - his only saving grace was keeping his "condition" quiet. Not only the laughing, but the whistling and his central issue being "daddy called me a crybaby" was pathetic.

Yuna - Typical FF White Mage "superpowered" heroine that lets everyone fight for her

Wakka - was this supposed to be a joke about dumb jock? It was pretty bad, and even Vaan moved past the "my brother died in a war" thing ten times quicker

Lulu - big set of ******

Kimarhi (?) - Quiet charater, not much to the story, but can one really complain about a blue Lion-o?

Rikku - typical young, shrieking, squealing, dumb anime girl that serves as the jailbait

and........

Auron - mystery, complexity, and fear. Added with a red coat, a cool sword and sunglasses.

Auron also had a bottle of sake, yet that is not the reason he was more or less kicked out of Yevon.=]

Auron was a boss, half dead and he still managed to drag himself down the summit of Gagazat. F*** Yunalesca & Yevon, F*** the Lightning Plains for making me dodge 200 lightning bolts, and may the Luca Goers burn in Hades.
Speaking of Yevon, was i the only person who was disappointed with Yu Yevon's appearance. Seriously he looked like an Unknown from Pokemon.
