It's better than having to contemplate the existance of yet another game in that universe.

Actully, a large, yet breathable cloak or coat, makes perfect sense, also there is fashion. And praticality. You'ld be begging for one of those coats if you seen a Southern Wind storm, more so in dry area's like Texas. In fact its better to have a coat like that in a hot dusty area, than it is to wear shorts and tanks. Exposes more of your body to the elements. Kills you sooner.

On another reguard, no snow isn't so bad. I seen a goth guy dressed up in spikes, steel toed boots, and he stood 7 feet tall with a trench coat down to his feet and a mow hawk, and black eye shadow, it was like watching Bowser meets the Tyrant. I also live in an area where open carry happens alot, so not a big deal. Heck I've seen people dressed like Snow.

Most of them were dumbasses however. So it fits his character, no?

This.

I never said I was otherwise. Although I'm pretty sure I'm not a lady.

No one thinks of clothes like that. No one thinks, "hmm... what article of attire will best provide me with proteciton of the elements? What if a sand storm starts? Best be prepared!"

That's because a lot of goths try too hard. Like a lot of people. But the point stands. The guy in a big pleather coat and spikes looks ridiculous and the guy in a wool cap and Dick Tracy overcoat looks just as ridiculous.

You know what's funny? In ME2 I took Jack with me to this place called Pragia. It was raining cat's and dogs, like really pouring. I just stood outside for a while looking for loot and not once did Jack complain. It was funny, because all she was wearing was a belted brassiere and some prison pants. I mean, I would have been pretty concerned about her getting sick. I might maybe have even said something about it. Point being, It's a video game. The character designs aren't constructed for practicality. It's fashion over function. This is especially prevalent in modern Japanese fiction. Deal with it.

At leat with Jack her design said something about her character. As did the design of most of ME's characters. So he just looks like a dumb guy in a big coat that likes little girls.

Also, space magic.

Do you really want me to explain Japanese culture to you? Really?
And Metal Gear is more focused on realism. It takes place in a real country, in a real time period, with real armies, and real weapons.

You're seriously gonna sit there and compare Metal Gear to Final Fantasy?

Oh, so one game with bad design completely eradicates the other's bad design? We weren't talking about Bioware's design desicions, but SE's. Just because it is a videogame doesn't mean that it is exempt from bad designs, and just because something is prevalent doesn't mean that is good. But I guess this angst is more from "I like my heroines in hot pants, deal with it"

Space magic aside, Snow is supposed to look like a rebellious little douche bag. That's what everyone sees him as at first. But he's more than that, and that's what makes the character interesting. He goes on like an idiot about being a hero and what not, but he's dead serious about it. He actually wants to protect all his friends and his fiance who is admittably much less massive than he is. Thing is, the way he looks is exactly that, the outside, what you get at first. But there's more to him than that. Just like how Jack isn't just some obnoxious b!tch. She's AL LOT more than what she looks like or comes off as at first.

Because that's exactly what I said. What I mean is that what you consider "bad" design is not bad at all. Practicality has no place in a FANTASY game. Or at least, it isn't important.
