I don't know if this has been posted before... but I must say that i am disappointed that the Grey Wardens in the game do not get any special / bonus talent trees! What I mean is adding things after the "Joining"... I was hoping for something like how Wynnes' bonus abilities are gained through exploring her Sub-Plot (Vessel of the Spirit).
This was touched on with the Wardens Keep DLC (Drinking the modified "Blood") but other than the rogue ones, I consider them to be a bit weak!!!
I was wandering if anyone was thinking / feeling the same thing as IMO the power gap between the party NPC's and the PC isn't that big... That said I understand that this extra power would make the game easier than it already is!!! any thoughts??
But NVM rant over...

hmmm.. maybe in DLCs or expansions?
knowing that the PC and Alistair are just new recruits, maybe they'll develop a special Grey Warden skill, ilke + bonus damage to darkspawn, darkspawn detection, etc, in the future.

I do agree with Castila, I expected more from becoming a Gray Warden, including additional skills/talents more in line with fighting darkspawn as I increased in levels. We may still be young recruits by the end of the game, but 25th level is a fair ways to have gone experience-wise. I think it should have been reflected with some Gray Warden abilities.
*shrug* Not a big deal, more of an "it would have been nice".

Now that you mention it...where is that sense darkspawn thing? Really, we get jumped by darkspawn all the goddamned time. If not the main character, then shouldn't Alistair have it?

That I did chalk up to me and Alistair being young Gray Wardens and our attunement to the taint not being that great. I think that's what a dev said in a thread somewhere, too...

Yeah for sure, but this game been as good as it is... the tiniest of disappointments seem huge!

high Survival skill detects all creatures in the map.

Maybe if the survival skills were added incrementally as higher levels were reached it would seem as though that Grey Warden ability was getting stronger. Weather or not the game would tell you or let you figure it out for yourself is an interesting thought. Maybe Alistair would say something about it at some point. Or another companion might remark on your recent knack for sensing Darkspawn.

Except, Alistair specifically tells you he can do it when you go to collect blood. He says he doesn't because it's supposed to be a test.Adria Teksuni wrote...

if you've got the warden's keep DLC, the abilities you get there are technically gray warden abilities. They use the taint in your blood.

in theory, the darkspawn you fight should naturally target Grey Wardens for because they sense the taint in you. Probably not something too hard to implement but I doubt that would have much added value to the gameplay.
It's not really like Duncan had any special powers, he got killed all the same in the battle. So it might have more to do with the ability to permanently kill an Archdemon. However, given the lore and stuff we know now, that doesn't really have a lot of concrete evidence behind it either. It's not like they can really prove the archdemon they killed last time isn't the same one since no one back then is alive and really no way of ID them.

One other thing is how come there are no custom Formation types AND no single character hold ground mode!

I want the glowing blue eyes when you kill them as in the Sacred Ashes trailer

They did add "grey warden" abilities, 2 infact but they suck imo but it's from the warden's keep dlc

Dont worry, being a Grey Warden will allow you to summon and call to your side a Griffon to aid you in battle (in a future DLC)...maybe...hopefully...

concidering that a codex or someone said they were all dead I'm willing to bet that there'll be a dlc where you find a lost area of griffons. But i don't think they'll let you fly them into battle.

Even just being able to track darkspawn as if you had level 4 tracking only for them would have been nice, and entirely appropriate.

darkspawn & demons would have been nice, yes

I always thought that the only "real" power you got was the taint immunity...
