Does anyone else not recruit Javik, even though you have the DLC?

Honestly, Javik was and still is my favorite squadmate. Like another poster said, he's refreshing because he's the only one that doesn't kiss your ass because you're "Shepard". He's a realist, and it's great to have a realist crush the dreams of an optimist squadmate.

If Javik was a realist, then he would realize that his consisten comments about destroying all those who impede Shepard's plans is not realistic.

Javik's whole character can be summed up in two points:

1.  I'm imperialistic
2. Protheans are better than you

Casticus, I agree. I've recently been thinking about how when going on missions, I'd rather just have the characters that belong in Mass Effect.

I honestly don't feel like a living Prothean actually fits into Mass Effect at all.

They were much better off an enigmatic and partially-understood race that dun got reaped before they had a chance to create their own relays.

Mass Effect 3 tried too hard to make it seem like every Reaper invasion is the same, to fit in with their goofy cyclical nature of time plotline. In every conversation with Javik he talks about how their war was pretty much the same, but just lasted longer and was more horrifying.

While I do find his presence contrived to the point of straining my suspension of disbelief, without him the ME3 squad is so hideously dull with a bunch of goodie two-shoes who sycophanitcally worship Shepard that I find him quite refreshing. He also doesn`t lose any points for being better written than 95% of the ME3 cast.

Co-sign. An ass-pull presence, but well worth it.

Your #2 couldn't be more false. Time and time again Javik shamefully admits that his species failed. And he also goes on to admit that the current cycle is better off because instead of making everyone bow down and submit to one plan, this cycle uses its differences to work together. He admits that it was the downfall of his cycle. So I don't quite get your point.

It took away all the mystery from Vigil and the Prothean VIs when you have this dumbf*** idiot Javik next to you with a Caribbean accent, and mindless ranting.

Except the Turians are already supposed to fulfill that role, making the Protheans as presented by Javik redundant.

"Trolling" is an insult bro. I'd watch that language around here.

Also, can images no longer be posted?

Not trying to insult you. I was talking about Javik, that's one reason not to like him: he's a troll. Personally, that's what I love about his character.

I take offense at anyone who uses the word troll even if they're using it against an actual troll.

"If you think you've seen a troll, remain calm and
slowly back away. The wise hunter knows that preparation is the key to
success, and you certainly don't want to hunt any trolls unprepared!"

Troll SlayingAlso Trolls regenerate from any wounds you might inflict on them, but trolls are susceptible to flame.

I just think people dislike Javik because they expected him to be classy and heroic. I for one am glad that he wasn;t what I expected im to be. Others obviously feel differently about it.

The Turians were the military aspect of Rome or ancient cultures, The protheans are a better comparison because they made everyone conform to their way of fighting.

No. I expected him to not be completely out of place, and to actually make some sort of coherent sense, or fulfill some role.

He's essentially an Easter Egg.

I don't even know what this is supposed to mean, because the Romans didn't conform everyone to their way of fighting. They used foreign auxilliaries fighting in their own native ways for hundreds of years, perhaps thousands if you count the Eastern Empire after the fall of the West.

Additionally, BioWare has already confirmed that the Turians are supposed to represent a Roman Empire.

Me. I think the idea of a Prothean alive after 50,000 years, even if in stasis, is dumb. They were dead or turned into Collectors and it should have stayed that way. The DLC came free with the CE and I still have it on my harddrive because unfortunately the alternate costumes are part of it and I use some of them.

Easter Egg? not really as he was a fully fleshed out character.

However, I do feel his sole reason for being put into the game was to add credence to the synthetic versus organic theme that the game ended with... having said that he was a good character in terms of peronality and squad interaction.. so it evens out (In my view)

Javik still being in stasis also takes away from the wonder at the Ilos "tombs" and all the rejected stasis chambers. It felt like that was their one act of defiance.

Then all of the sudden they're like "yeah we also planned to have an army ready to wake up in the next cycle. It makes the science team at Ilos seem like a bunch of amateurs.

And about being out of place, of course he's out of place.
His species has been dead for 50,000 years. The only other thing that
makes him out of place to me is the fact that he experienced the Reaper
threat first hand, so he never ceases to tell you how little of a chance
you have at defeating them without doing unthinkable things, which is
essentially the theme of the game anyway.

Trolling must be the word you use when you disagree with someone but actually have nothing worthwhile to say.

I have literally not used Javik again since my first playthrough, and I'm on my 5th now.
