True enough. At least most of the horrible side effects are gone thanks to the experiments on Adam. (Really wish the chewing out over that had happened). Still that brainwashing chip stuff made me. Almost made me side with...what's his name? The old guy that was friends with Sarif.

I can see that.

I just don't trust the Illuminanti not to be able to spin it...somehow. :pinched:

The Illuminati will spin everything, we can't really stop that. I think it'd be spinned worse keeping the base though.

I might have sympathised with that guy (he invented augmentations after all), but he was crazy psychopath. He doesn't just want to deactivate augmentations, he wants to kill everybody first.

Yeah, I think he shouldn't have any power. At all.

True. You lose either way. I like Adam though. I don't want him to die. (And honestly I really wanted to backhand Megan. <_< By the end of the game I'd rather have Adam with either Malik or Pritchard. Either would've been preferable than goddamn Megan.)

They did a good job at making him sympathetic though. All that work...and the one thing improving all those lives doesn't work on him. That has to blow. Though yeah the causing them to all go bat**** and kill everything was...excessive. (and I hate that last level. Felt like I was playing Zombie swarm. Used a trainer and put myself in rambo mode so I could get on with it.)

Agreed. Still he did have a point...sort of. They all did. No matter how psycho/sane they were.

I liked Adam too. I also seemed to be really stupid with regards to Megan. I didn't realise her intentions until the post-credits scene. :P

Damn you Megan! You moron!

I hate that last level because it ruined my Pacifist run (my 1st run). Some of the crazies ran into the explosives that the survivors had set up to defend themselves.

Y U SO STUPID? Running into bombs?

Well, everyone believes they're right. ;)

LOL I was a sidequest wh*** so I figured it out early. Wasn't pleased. At all. Raged that he gave such a lackluster reaction to it too!

Exactly. Just facepalming galore.

Honestly ugh. Such a random genre shift to. I went from Stealth to Zombie Zerg Rush. WTF?

True enough. :P

So it's pretty simple for Shepard to come back. Liara only has to plug her finger into a proper interface and do a file transfer, and voila! There's Shepard the exact way he was the last time Liara saw him, except now in a machine/organic body.

"Shepard! Don't panic! Relax! It'll take a few minutes to get used to this. You're fine. Everyone's like this now."

Shepard: "How did this happen?"
Liara: "I don't know. It happened when the Crucible fired."
Shepard: "Where was I?"
Liara: "Here, take my hand. I'll show you the entire event."
Shepard: "What the???" jerks hand away.
Liara: "Relax. Trust me."
Shepard: "I see. But where was I? The last thing I remember was you telling me you had a gift for me, then giving me the gift. It was beautiful."
Liara: "I ... made a copy of your memories ... so I'd never forget you ... just in case. Then the Crucible happened. They never found you. Then Kasumi showed me something amazing: Keiji's Grey Box had become sapient. Then I talked with EDI, and we had an idea.
"We had a new body made for you, and I put you in there. It's like the Lazarus Project only since we're all organic/synthetic hybrids now it was very easy to do."
Shepard: "So I'm not really me?"
Liara: "Yes, you are really you. You just are you are missing only one hour. Can you remember your fifth grade teacher? And who was the class bully in middle school?"
Shepard: "Yes."
Liara: "You'll get used to this. It took time for all of us. None of this would have been possible without :wizard:."

You know after reading the first 3 pages of this "Unoffensive" discussion mostly feuled by the same angry ones who post their reasoning, hatred and disdain for the choice of synthesis and the people who chose it on this and other threads.

It seemed a waste of time to even respond to people who think themselves and their choices were so much more noble and justified than others.I mean it's starting to look like our "bipartisanship" in Washington.I hope we can all agree that the ending  at least after the extended cut was better than it was before.
Destroy seemed like a better option the first time around for me before the cut, what with all the indoctrination possibilities. After the cut it didn't seem like indoctrination was worthy considering anymore. I chose Synthesis with some reservations, but it's my personal choice for what I perceive to be the better outcome. All this speculation about "what if's" is just that speculation.

I had to include a previous post from someone else at the top of my post because it just made me laugh..So, thank-you for that.....I had not even considered that possibility with synthesis but it does sound nice.

PS - Having tolerance, peace and understanding do not make you weak. They can make you a better soldier and a better leader as well as a person.

Honestly I can see how the reviving stuff would work, but as you said what makes your morals most noble? What right do you have to force your choice on everyone? I choose destroy so that we rebuild in our own path and find our own way as a galaxy and we are finally free from the reapers influence.

Synthesis I find abhorrent in a story context because it completely breaks the significance of Edi, and the Geth and all that development we see of these two AI throughout ME2 and ME3.

Legion has been asking things like, ya know:

"Do we deserve death?"

"Does this unit have a Soul"

"No data available" (When questioned on the N7 armor.)

These things imply more than just cold logic, they imply philosophy, a desire to hold a sense of self and of self worth. If it wasn't enough to question their sense of self the desire to do such a thing alone implies that there's more than just a machine there because a machine already knows itself. It doesn't know hesitation it doesn't know uncertainty. Its aware of its programing and parameters.
The geth know the limitations they have on paper. and they want to know if they're not truly limited by those limitations. In the same way an organic isn't limited in how much he can imagine or how much he can dream.

Edi as well asks questions, all of which point to her self analyzing and "self modifying" in the same way that we grow and change our views over time. Back in the 80's being gay was taboo. Now being gay is practically viewed as normal. Our views change as we grow, just as her views change. Its not just hardware and software.

Synthesis however yanks this whole thing out from under you however because its not until synthesis that Edi is "Alive" even though she stated previously that "I am not like them. (Reapers) I am alive."

So all that emotion all that development is just crushed in ten seconds. And even worse, Synthesis' very existence removes the sacrifice present in the destruction ending.

Because if the Geth and Edi weren't alive in the first place; I just won and all I had to loose was my glorified calculator.

So yeah, Synthesis is horrible

no, half your crew would be die too because the entire universe is dependent on synthetics, including yourself and your half-synthetic crew.

Have you even seen destroy? With 3100 EMS every crew member bar EDI is perfectly fine. You get the breath scene and all technology, including the Mass Relays and Citadel, gets rebuilt albeit more slowly than in Synthesis and Control. If you are going to complain about how that is unrealistic then you can't really support Synthesis (big green light instantly changing every single molecule in the galaxy).

I wrote that little dialogue when I read about Keiji's Grey Box becoming sapient. Synthesis was over the top as it was, but that just made it ridiculous. Talk about an oversell. So what do we do with an absolutely ridiculous oversell? Don't get mad. Make it more ridiculous.

Now in the process of this, it further exposes the ridiculousness of all the endings. Come on. Mac? Casey? Seriously. I really want to know the drug mix so I can try it. It's got to be good.

Control: grabbing two handles with at least 100,000 volts running through them and have it convert your mind into 1s and 0s and download it into a computer to upgrade the OS. I don't think Tesla could have come up with this to work with the high voltage interface, nor could Jobs or Gates have done the mind download thing that wouldn't fry a circuit board at those voltages. And now suddenly you're the big bad ass Reaper Overlord and ruler of the Galaxy, if you choose to be because who is going to stop you? Power is the means to the end. Power for humanity, once against the Reapers, and now beyond. Nothing is holding you back. You can help them rebuild their worlds and the system, then give everyone a warning: "We'll be watching." You want to. Come on. You really want to. Don't paragon out on me. And in 10,000 years you can ask yourself "would the galaxy had been better off if The Illusive Man had succeeded?" Then chuckle to yourself as you realize that it would have been.

Destroy: Like you said above at 3100 everyone save EDI is perfectly fine. What about at over 8000? It's really no different. Honestly at that level maybe it should be only the Geth. But maybe EDI's mobile AI platform only should get destroyed, leaving EDI on the Normandy intact. Instead of the "breath" scene Shepard should get the arm shoving the rubble off her scene, and sitting up with a lit cigarette and wearing ray bans waiting for the MedEvac.

And let's get totally ridiculous. If you promote 10 MP characters before Cronos you get a bonus! All the destroyed buildings magically get rebuilt by the red wave and the husks turn back into the people they once were and remember nothing of their time with the reapers. It really would add yet another selling point for synthesis: ability to interface, the sapient grey box, and now husk reversal -- a true utopia. Let's do this for all the endings except Control because boss Sheaper needs the husks for the fear factor.

agree about the graybox. i actually laughed out loud when i saw that.

but for synthesis i still believe ppl wouldn't be that accepting of the reapers. i mean thiink of how many ppl hated the geth for what they did on eden prime, citadel, and few otehr worlds, i doubt ppl would be as forgiving of the reapers for what they did when it was 20x worse
