I'm in the forest. I guess I traded away my werewolf pelts and they aren't there anymore at the elf trader. No more will spawn no matter how much I wonder around, go in/out.

I killed the tree.

There's nothing to steal in the stump, and I can't ****** off the Hermit enough for him to attack - nor will he trade for anything else it seems, as I gave the scarf to the elf guy already.

Any suggestions? Is there something I am missing here?

there are some items you can get from the elves that you can trade. I don't want to get into any detail, but one is a book. Good luck

Perhaps I am not understanding something here, but I thought I had to have a werewolf pelt to get by the barrier, and without the pelt i will not get past it if the tree is dead...

you killed the great oak? hmmm I never attacked him before. did he drop anything? You don't need a pelt. If you do the favor for the tree, you trade the hermit for he acorn, then when you return to the tree, you can get past the barrier.

if you killed the tree (since I did not see a reason to do it) I can't be sure as you can proceed other than following the hermit's hints. He tells something about a way (actually it seems it is related with the werewolves), had you killed the tree or not. I think having done it is a plus reason he talks about that other way.

Now if you think killing everything is the easy way... it may be so and I just can't imagine how.

PS: since that is the spoilers forum. The pelt is involved in another quest... that involves a young elf and his would be girlfriend... one way to solve it, at least.

Tree's dead, I killed him... hermit cant be robbed, or made to fight me.... woman w/holla hates me so no hola horn.. wrerewolf pelts just went and vanished I guess, the merchant doesn't have them... nobody, nowhere has them... I'm really kinda stumped here. It's like I killed/destroyed/pissed off every way to get the objects i need, and for some weird reason I can't rob the hermit or make him fight me. it doesn't make sense.

You can't kill the hermit since there's no point. He'll only be mad enough to fight you if you steal from his home. There is a random encounter with werewolves, I'd try that one out. But, yes it is very annoying that monsters do not respawn in this game.

oh, i already had the random encounter... killed them. i have no idea where all the stuff i sold went to it is just gone...

I can't steal anything from hermit... nothing to steal for some reason.. and besides, i need the werewolf pelt to get past the barrier, nothing else will get me past with the tree dead, is that not correct?

That is a good way to play FPS games, not the better with RPGs. if you manages to kill both (tree and hermit) you are calling above yourself a major plot break that may invalidates totally your game as you may not have a way to proceed with the storyline.

Remember, one way is geting the tree branch, the other although I do not know for sure, is suggested you need to go talk with the werewolves, it's yours that is fixed the path is an object and that object is 'near'.

You should be able to buy it back, if not reload save? But yes, the game prevents you from killing the hermit if you aren't on the quest for the tree because there'd be no point. If the tree is dead the hermit is your only way into the ruins.

The storyline is if you side with the tree and kill the hermit, he will give you a branch that will allow the "forest" to let you pass. If you side with the hermit however after killing the tree then he will make you a disguise from a pelt to make you appear as a werewolf. (Which is kind've a weak plot hole since you should need four pelts not the one but I digress.)

Repeating, you may be unable to kill the hermit exactly because you need him to point out what you need to do... and it may not involve an object, at least not an object from him.

Ah, yes, but I haven't killed both... there are no werewolf pelts to trade the hermit it seems. Without this, I can not cross the forrest barrier, right? and thus could not get to the werewolves to talk to them

Your's is a much betther and knowing answer, I may use it at some replay (although i find it hard to attack something that is not actively doing it first :)

thanks for the hint, Rainen

Yes, i get that much...  but you must have werewolf pelts, right? I have none nor can I find any more anywhere... so he can't help me thru the barrier, and the tree is dead....

Yes, if you killed the tree then you need pelts. If you can't kill anymore werewolves either reload a save, or try to find the merchant you sold them to.

The treee doesn't want you to kill the Hermit. It just wants it acorn back. And in exchange, it gives you a branch (magic staff) that allows you to pass trough the barrier.

I would go check the camp dwarf vendor if you sold him the pelts, if not then i suggest reloading.

He's too busy rhyming to make sense one way or the other...you can "trade" to get it back but it's far easier to just kill the smelly bastid.
