When I'm not working, running, or lifting I play pretty much strictly ME2 and ME3 these days, though if I get bored I'll throw in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning or BF3. I also play the Sims on my phone with my girlfriend, she's obsessed.
What do you guys do?

Now I work for a company in the video game industry. Maybe you've heard of it?

Spent 20 years in the Canadian Forces providing meteorological services in all three elements; air, land, and sea. Started working towards psychology and counselling before the college I attended asked me to instruct their aviation students in meteorology.

How do you go from meteorology to video games, if you don't mind my asking?
Many of my skills in the weather services meant digging through databases and providing quality assurance. Also, as an ex soldier, sailor and airman, I also provide various perspectives to the development team and a variety of organizational skills. All this coupled with the fact that I've been a video game nut since the 70s and always wanted to be a part of it

Hah, awesome stuff. Which is the better job though?
Haha! I think you probably already know the answer. Here I am surrounded by a phenomenal group of people who love making games as well as playing them. True, there can be (I won't say bad days because they never feel like that) off days and stress goes up. It's a relatively good kind of stress though. Meteorology had its moments and I did experience a lot of very interesting things around the world but I am finally fulfilling a childhood dream of mine here.

Any advice for someone looking to get into the biz?
Depending on what aspect of the industry you are interested in, start doing it. Consider yourself self-employed to begin with. Artists, for example, put together a portfolio at their own expense as their "job" prior to actual paid employment. It becomes your resume along with your job experience.
As a QA specialist you can draw upon your job, life and gaming experiences. Start reading up on various resources (plenty around the net) on topics like white box, black box, or orange box testing. Understand the principles which guide good bug identification and writing.
As a final piece of advice, post your resume on a company job board. That's what I did. It took a year, but they called me.

Oh but I did.
I've been able to charge fine on Hydra, you just need to be able to target enemies (see their shields/health/name).
