At the moment I would like to say I'm a Forensic Scientist but that isn't the strict truth I guess the best way to put it would be I'm still a Student of Forensics although I have left University.

Situation at the moment is that I have just finished my Bsc(Hons) Degree in Forensic and Crime Scene Investigation and I am waiting for the rest of my results to come I have passed most things but failed one exam (Toxicology) by 2 marks so I am awaiting the results for my Research Project on the 24th to see if I need to retake the exam or if I pass without. (probably will anyway because it's an extra qualification)

I also have a FdSc Degree in Forensic Archaeology and a BTEC in Forensic Science and was briefly on the One Show for all of 30 seconds I was sat behind the Presenter (See if you can ninja from that what University I came from:ph34r:).

For the Inevitable:

- No we don't wear Posh Suits or Tux's or drive fast and expensive cars we actually wear a white suit that covers the entire body hood included that gets incredibly hot, Blue bags over our shoes, double layers of latex gloves and masks. :wizard:

- No we don't put on Sunglasses at night and I have yet to meet anyone who visited my unversity who was wearing sunglasses at daylight either. :wizard:

- Not once have I, any of the other students or Industry visitors entered or exited any scene or area to the sound of 'The Who' in the background. :wizard:

- Yes we are all Movie Star good looking, It's a perk of the job. :wizard:

(Edit - adding in missed sentence, Underlining)

I live in israel, finished my mandatory army service back in mid september of 2011 after 3 years. Started my BSc in Software Engineering this past March.

I also sing, used to do it professionally, worked with many recognized people in the local industry and generally made somewhat of a name for myself. but yeah, i can't really stand the local industry. and music doesn't pay well(read: doesn't pay) in Israel. so that's all over with, still sing as a hobby. my last project was a Muse cover band.

other than that i work out regularly at the gym, will be taking an 8 months course in applications programming for iOS and Android and when i get some free time from school i'll find another hobby, thinking about something along the lines of karate, or a cooking course, maybe i'll take an interesting course about something unrelated to my BSc(?). amazing how all those ideas have so much in common right? :P

i should also mention i like to travel, and have a lovely(most of the time) girlfriend. we're thinking about traveling to japan or new zealand sometime around May/June.

26, native to New Zealand, but moved to Canada about 4 years ago. Ever since then I've worked as a waitress at 'The Keg' chain of restaurants, similar to what I did in NZ, while I look into some more serious career paths. I take any time I have off from that (Usually late at night) to switch to my alter-ego, the dorky girl gamer basement dweller.

My boyfriend introduced me to this hobby a few years back, and he is on these forums as well.

How do you go from meteorology to video games, if you don't mind my asking?

Many of my skills in the weather services meant digging through databases and providing quality assurance.  Also, as an ex soldier, sailor and airman, I also provide various perspectives to the development team and a variety of organizational skills.  All this coupled with the fact that I've been a video game nut since the 70s and always wanted to be a part of itImage IPB.

Haha!  I think you probably already know the answer.  Here I am surrounded by a phenomenal group of people who love making games as well as playing them.  True, there can be (I won't say bad days because they never feel like that) off days and stress goes up.  It's a relatively good kind of stress though.  Meteorology had its moments and I did experience a lot of very interesting things around the world but I am finally fulfilling a childhood dream of mine here.  Image IPB

I'm a warehouse worker who deals in the distribution of Art and Architecture books. I'm currently between courses training to be an Electrician.

In my free time I play videogames (obviously), mostly RPG's like Mass Effect, The Elder Scrolls, or Fallout. I do however also play the odd FPS such as Battlefield or Halo. I have no platform preference, and have owned all major platforms and some point or another.

Other than gaming I enjoy Air Rifle Shooting (one downside to not living in America), and drinking Ale/Single Malt Scotch.

Depending on what aspect of the industry you are interested in, start doing it.  Consider yourself self-employed to begin with.   Artists, for example, put together a portfolio at their own expense as their "job" prior to actual paid employment.  It becomes your resume along with your job experience.

As a QA specialist you can draw upon your job, life and gaming experiences.  Start reading up on various resources (plenty around the net) on topics like white box, black box, or orange box testing.  Understand the principles which guide good bug identification and writing.

As a final piece of advice, post your resume on a company job board.  That's what I did.  It took a year, but they called me.

As of December of this year I will get my BS in Computer Science with a Minor in Math! I work in healthcare IT, but want to write programs for someone somewhere when i get that diploma. Being a math minor is the most useless thing I have ever decided to do... not ever going to use it ever. CSCI is the best idea I have ever had... Networking class got me the part time job I have kept all throughout college.
