There are tons of opportunities in here. There are bugbears, orcs and ogres.

What is the best plan to gain the most XP and also slay as many monsters as possible?

EDIT: making a deal with bugbears is worthless, right? After i showed Ghelu's head, i did not get any XP, and the bugbears have disappeared. I wanted to slay and plunder them! Can you confirm that making a deal with bugbears is totaly useless or perhaps i am doing something wrong, or a bug happened?

I will give you this small spoiler,  to help you avoid the misplay (i.e. the peaceful resolution that you don't want).

Do it again, but don't take Ghelu's head with you when you go outside. Leave it on the floor somewhere.
