Ok so, I have no problem manipulating the world map/using it via area transitions and adding custom locations in my module that is an extension of the single player campaign.

In my separate module, I have added the world map, added 2 pins, added a trail between them and the appropriate pin tags.  They also have the correct area and waypoint override tags, and the .map file itself has no parent map as it is itself the parent map.  The area transitions I have in game to my world map function properly, when I click on them the world map is opened, my location is circled, and the other pin is active.

In my custom module core script, I have added the Primary world map, and made it active, as evidenced by it showing up when the area transition is clicked.

THIS is where I have spent 5 hours of headaches and cannot figure out why I cannot travel between locations.  Both locations show as active, all the tags are right, the world map is active and allowing for travel (set to 2, 0 = no visible world map, 1 = visible world map but cannot travel, 2 = visible + travel).

BUT I cannot travel between points, no matter what I do, I cannot travel on my world map.  Someone please help me; frankly I'm about to give up on this issue, it is so incredibly frustrating.  I've followed through on almost everything from the Map Tutorial here: http://social.biowar...hp/Map_tutorial but to no avail.  There is a section of code in that tutorial with two cases which I added to my module core script, the EVENT_TYPE_BEGIN_TRAVEL and EVENT_TYPE_WORLDMAP_PRETRANSITION.  This all compiles properly, but when I area transition to the world map in game, the game locks up with a "Loading..." on the bottom right.

I have looked through the module_core.nss also, and found a couple of somewhat relevant events but they do not do anything significant.  Here in what could be a very simple functionality, there is a ridiculous amount of complication.  If I am missing something that is right in front of me, please help me out.  Gonna try and spend another hour trying to figure this out before I sleep.  Thanks for any insight anyone can provide, thank you.

Well, after hours of painstaking effort I finally got it working. I'm beginning to wonder if people actually compile and test the scripts they lay out in that wiki =/ That script for those two events compiles fine, but in game it does not work properly at all, I had to make significant modifications to it. Now my world map works, smoothly.

If the script in the wiki is incorrect, please edit the script and post the working version. That will help the others who are running/will run into the same issue.

Thanks!

Congrats for getting it working. All you folks that are doing things in the Toolset these days are pathfinders, so painstaking and frustrating are probably the words of the month for you guys.

Could you upload your properly working scripts to the wiki for those of us that like to walk behind the pathfinders?

Thanks!

wait - you actually have world map working standalone??? I've spent two solid days on this...all I can see is waypoints. Any chance somone that has done this post a checklist of to do's to get there from scratch - I am doing just that for when I finally debug my issues as I have seen a crapload of posts from people that are unable to get that far (They just show waypoints as well - in the game I mean, not in the toolset).

Arrgghhh....help?!?

ok - I just did a test, left all my stuff the same, but changed the 'MAP' drop down in Object Viewer (while editing my world map) to Denerim - and sure enough - I can now see my waypoints on the the denerim map image......so - my TGA format must be incorrect...what are the 'rules' for the TGA file of my 'world map' ?

Thanks...
