Why would you side against mages? Did they curl your toes, arled your Eamon, Greyed your warden, Maged your Templar?

Or maybe the mages didnt satisfy the demand of your Qun.

Surely you'd side with them if they Greyed your Warden on a regular basis lol.

I hate the fact that all DA can do now is talk about Mages vs. Templars. DA2 every quest was about this conflict. If it's the same in DA3, it will be very sad, Dragon Age has many different conflicts and ideas that can be explored.

I side with mages to troll Meredith and to slaughter that emo wapanese sissy Fenris.

I suspect DA3 will be about the Orlesian civil war.

I think we all know how that'll ends...

They botched it badly in DAII. They reduced an interesting dichotomy to a ridiculous display of lunatics and monsters who made no sense.

it is not that, Nizaris1. All Mage good or evil, are weapons of mass destruction. And Demons are naturally attracted to them. So even if the mage is good, if a Demon possess them, a lot of innocent people will get hurt.

I hope Dragon Age 3 allows us to eat mages.

Nah, actually, scrap that, I hope Dragon Age 3 allows us to make mages tranquil.

I'm from the USA, and aside from one pro-templar playthrough for the achievements, I side with the mages every time.  I just have a hard time siding with Meredith.

Mainly because mages, really, REALLY, annoyed me in the end. Like someone stated they reduced the interesting conflict to lunatics and abominations that left the templars looking like the sane ones in the end. Most of them.

Also, because I wanted to annoy Anders.

They made Meredith a very unlikable character. This was exactly what they shouldn't have done. It makes the PC want to aid the mages despite any good arguements Meredith or the other templars bring forward.

The story and characters in general... the world... was really ****ed up in DA2. I really wish they could have a do-over.

Habit from playing NWN , where mage players became overbearing egoists .The same repeats in most On line games ...well for me others may have different experiences .
As such freedom for mages will mean a lot of bowing by others .

Power corrupts and in games where people are mages it shows . The same would happen in Thedas ...the needs of the few do not outweigh the needs of the many .

In theory, I would side with the templars. But I don't like their leader and view her as unreasonable. Templars should see reason. Gregor saw reason.

Indeed he did. However, Lambert, the Lord High Seeker in Asunder, refused to see reason. He's the reason all the mages, by virtue of their magic, is now a death sentence.

Granted, the mages weren't making it easy on themselves either.

Because it's logical. Siding with the heavily outnumbered mages is about fighting for an ideal. Siding with the Templars is ensuring you come out of this conflict alive.

But i absolutely abhor Meredith's character, so i side against logic in this instance.

Meanwhile, the Chantry dominates both templars and mages. But that's ok, because only mages and templars can be corrupt and the chantry knows the will of the Maker. :innocent:

There's no reason to side with either party; you get the same ending either way. The exact same ending. Work that one out...

So that's why Meredith was so grouchy.

... and while she needed a psycho-enhancing idol to make her declare the right of anullment, the rest of the templars had seen enough of the rise in blood magic to be more than willing to carve down the crazy mages and their huge abominable leader...

I wonder what the giant blobby Orsino would have done if he had won.

No you don't. Posted Image

Pro-Mage: Templars back off and Hawke leaves the Gallows

Pro-Templar: Templars surround Hawke and kneel.

Pro-Mage: "The Champion's name became a rallying cry, a reminder that the mighty Templars could be defied"

Pro-Templar: "The Champion's name became a rallying cry, a reminder of their brutal oppression"

Pro-Mage: "More Templars arrived in Kirkwall to restore order, but we were already long gone"

Pro-Templar: "Here at home, the city all but got on its hands and knees and begged the Champion to rule."

The two endings have completely disparate tones: Pro-Mage Hawke became a rebel on the run and Pro-Templar Hawke became the ruler of a city and a hateful tyrant in the eyes of the mages.

The "two" endings for Dragon Age II, Legacy, and Mark of the Assassin come across as identical because they are. Whether Hawke sides with Meredith or Orsino, he disappears in three years regardless of his role, mages rebel, templars rebel, and the differences between the two endings feel relatively small in comparison (for some of us). In Legacy, a possessed Warden leaves, no matter what. In Mark of the Assassin, Tallis leaves with the list, no matter what.

Origins and its additions differ from this how? The player only gets the shallow illusion of more varied endings via epilogue slides giving them a rundown of every single choice they made throughout the game. This isn't necessary in DA2; it shows you the consequences in-game, through the continued quest chains, or through conversations in the world, or letters received, or for the bigger ones, Varric and Cassandra discuss them between acts. What's the difference?

Aside from the Epilogue outcomes, there are the choices about sparing or killing Loghain and supporting Alistair, Anora, both, yourself (as the Cousland heir) as King/Queen, getting Alistair killed, whether the dark ritual will be done with Morrigan or not, and the royal boon (like asking the new ruler to emancipate the mages of the Circle of Ferelden, which the ruler publicly agrees to do) that makes me feel like my choices matter. I don't feel like Hawke's choices matter, because it felt like the narrative railroaded me down a specific path even if it made absolutely no sense.
