Bioware giving people wrong impression that it's fans crafted stories not Bioware's crafted stories. Pampering the ego's of the fanbase over the years which has led to the entitlement, threating and vile nature of the current community whenever anything they do not like is said or done. They spoiled the community which has led to a state of spoiled children running rampage. If imagine Bioware was a parent and said child is allowed a dog, this community as such a child would throw a hissy fit and tantrum and demand a pony. Where if they do not agree with a group or a persons ideas that it means to that group or person they do not listen, that they hate them and that there is some grand conspiracy when in reality they did listen and simply just did not agree. So out of all the years been here, Bioware's biggest blunder is allowing the community to become spoiled due to misleading and ego pumping PR statements.

Wow. You funny.

This place does tend to feel more like a kindergarten than a mature social site these days. While I was being slightly melodramatic with my example, the PR did create this situation over the years. I prefer Bioware told it like it is than telling people merely what they want to hear like have done. It is why I respect Stanley's style of response's so much even though banned me few times. Telling people what they want to hear ultimately leads to disappointment because real life factors so often does not make such possible. It has bitten them in the arse so many time's I have lost count. They need to be more direct, less pampering and more realistic in their PR to prevent the sort of blacklashes that happen constantly on here.

Excuse me. Did I give the impression I was agreeing with you? I wasn't. Calling the people here spoiled children and entitled is just plain ignorant.

Think whatever you like, but people here had legitemate reasons to complain when Bioware failed to deliver on their promises. It was their right as paying customers.

You post ignores the very fact relates to PR of which I was talking about in first place. So closed minded and so ignorant of what was said that you lashed out like a child without understanding the point of the intital post.

Not living up to unreasonable expectations =/= to not selling an adequate product.

Think what you like, but the fact of the matter is the quality of bioware's games have always been inflated. Anyone who liked the precious installments of Dragon Age or Mass Effect are guilty of it. However, you can't honestly look back and say that their work was something phenomenal or unprecedented. With that in mind, I think Bioware delivered exactly what should've expected of them.

Regardless of your snide jesting. My point stands. The PR over years telling people what want to hear vs what should get is the biggest screw up Bioware have done (imho). It has led to a spoiled fanbase with expectations past what can be achieved. It has led the fanbase to throw tantrums at every corner over everything and demand each and every one of those things are changed to suit their personal requirements. The fanbase has become spoiled, the PR is to blame and the constant backlashes is due to these things.

In the 80's and 90's people bought games, the only interaction was generally through help lines and when someone felt extremely annoyed by something they tended to leave feedback but then moved onto something else, a new game or one they enjoyed. Their expectation were more based on reality of they may or may not take onboard your ideas. These days due to the pandering and pampering peoples expectations are so high every single time any game is released or any time something is changed they throw a tantrum and demand changes.

Games are not made to order, they are not made to fulfill every desire of each and every person or made to each persons specifications. They are mass media, produced on mass but crafted in a manner of product the developer wishes to create meaning story the developer wishes to tell and the mechanics they wish to use. Will always be some people not happy but due to the PR from Bioware over years people here constantly throw tantrums because their expectations are not met and their egos are so fluffed up that they expect everything they demand to become reality because they spent £20-£60 on a product. You do not get a mass produced product like games tailored to your individual tastes for £20-£60, maybe at £2-6million it can be tailored to your personal preferences.

I don't expect Bioware to deliver a revolutionary product every time. All I expect of them is to consistently deliver a game that will entertain me. For that matter, I didn't really mind Dragon Age 2 despite being a lesser title than it's predecessor, but Mass Effect 3 was such a massive screw up that I (and many others) felt the need to voice my displeasure.

That was a great day to be on the Forum. The rage lasted for weeks. Whats funny is BW promised like a comp, or giveaway to the folks who could not get in on this one...thats been a long time now, and still nothing. Most people have forgot or moved on though.

Meh isn't it obvious? It was just to shut people up.

Same with the book I expect, I doubt deception will have a 2nd edition.

The drive to get that book changed was great fun, I was one of the error checkers and main contributors along with LPPrince. One of the best threads on BSN. Hard as hell to keep up with though.

If you go back a few pages from the last page you'll see Penny Arcade did a web comic strip on it. Even IGN thought the books errors were bad.

I didn't mind the endings. They were fine - but with the EC they're much better and it feels completed.

However, I really don't like the dialogue system in DA2. Coming from a game where you could say pretty much anything to having to choose between "goody-two-shoes!" (which I normally play but some of the lines...my god..), "I'm a comedian!" and "b*tch stfu!" gets to be ridiculous. I didn't even feel like my character was MINE compared to DA:O. The characters were also..pretty bad.. there was way less interaction with them and I just didn't understand them at all. I thought I was going to like Anders but all he ever did was complain about the way mages were treated (which is understandable) but he was such an effing hypocrite. NO to blood mages but YES to joining with a spirit who changes into vengeance.

With that said, I do think the combat was vastly improved. The talent trees were fantastic. That was probably the only redeeming thing about the game.
