I still don't think EDI should have gotten a body (at least not a sexbot body), so I'd trade her for Kasumi

Trade Liara for Miranda. I don't hate Liara, but I like Miranda more and I feel like Miranda could have been WAY more vital to the core of the majority of the story than she is currently.

Trade Vega for Grunt. I miss my tank baby.

Trade Allers for Emily Wong. Wong should have never died on Twitter.

Ashley for Zaeed. Ashley never seems to say anything interesting. Zaeed can't open his mouth without awesome spurting out.

 Well I liked James and EDI, so can I kick out Liara? 

Seriously though, I'd probably kick off EDI (well...actually just keep her as the ship's AI, she's really not all that useful in combat) and sub her with Samara, Jack, or Jacob. 

Samara- well besides from being my favorite ME2 character, she really doesn't have baggage that would prevent her from joining Shep aside from the whole Falere-Rila episode. Although I'm not a fan of romance retcons, I would have gladly had her as an ME3 squadmember AND an LI for ME3 just because she's that awesome. 

Second choice- Jack- she happens to have more of a reason perhaps NOT to join Shep, but possibly as either a renegade or leaving them in the care of Rodriguez/Prangley (and risk losing them as War Assets). I love her redesign in ME3 and she's one of my favorite female characters in BioWare games period. She's not based off of any standard of beauty or trope, she's incredibly complex, and let's face it, we already have a ton of nice girls, nice to get a bad girl in the mix. 

Third choice- Jacob- Of all the male squaddies Jacob could easily rejoin Shepard. With him on the ME3 squad it would be an opportunity to continue (or start) a romance, especially since he had a LOT of potential. He really got shafted in so many ways (being useless as a squaddie in ME2, being hated, his romance arc being crappy, continued romance in ME3 crappier) and...well, he deserves better. Better than Kaidan anyways. 

Runners Up: Legion (should be able to choose between him or Tali if either one survived), Grunt (not a fan...but still has potential), Kasumi and Zaeed

I would kick of James and not replace him, hes just that much a waste of space

but if I pick some one i would have trouble because there are alot of good me2 and 1 characters that did not make the cut

FlamingBoy is dead on, I would kick off james, as freud would say " He's compensating" and I would put on jack, jack is honest what more could you want!!!

Personally, even though I had favourite squad mates in ME2, their were far too many for me to get attached enough to want them to replace a ME3 one.

Whoa whoa whoa if were considering Allers a squadmate I'd kick her off free of charge.

I told her to go F off so never saw here again after the first visit to Citadel. That's OK because next playthrough I'll have 2 new characters to experience: Ashley and Allers.

I'd remove James. His only purpose is to ensure you have  2 squaddies in the beginning of the Mars Mission. Cortez has more dialog than James. From a practical standpoint I'd trade him for Grunt (Wrex not being available) since thats whose role he fills. But for lawlz probably Jack. Her and Joker would have some nice dialog potential:)

EDI having a body to control, replaced with Legion.

I didn't feel it was necessary for EDI to gain a body, and for the "synthetic developing as a character" point, I liked Legion significantly better.

I'd replace James with Samara, James was put in to provide an idiot so the new players could learn through him... I didn't need this and thus it just became a tad annoying,

and as for why Samara, well she was a Biotic with an Assault Rifle (That was always a plus) and she would provide a nice counterbalance to Liara's more emotional character (Liara on the Thessia mission always gets on my nerves)

Everyody else has some strong opinion on the war, (Liara wasn't sure it could be won, Garrus was sure it could but he was worried for Palavan.. Tali is concerned with the Fleet, James wants to get back to Earth as does the VS, Edi is becoming human, Javik is whining about synthetics and vengance... I imagine Samare would just see a task that needs doing and everything else would be irrelevent it would be a nice counterbalance)

No other reason than Liara being a fairly crappy Shadow Broker (Seriously, how many people know she's this clandestine information broker again?) and pilfering Miri's room.

Though I suppose Liara could be based out of Jack's hidey hole if I absolutely must have her...

I liked James, I'd rather keep him around. Even if he and Grunt are basically redundant. And I'm cool with how Wrex, Mordin, and Legion were handled in ME3, so I'd rather keep them in those roles instead of making them squadmates again.

I thought we were going to get Samara after her mission. "It must wait now that i can help against the Reapers, if you'll have me ofcause" or something along those lines. I frowned when I didnt get Samara.

I'd actually be goood with that. In fact, I like the idea of just adding those two. Allers and Wong could compete (sensationalism vs journalism), and Jack just does not have a good excuse for not being there.

James would be gone in a heartbeat. I'd kick him off just because I don't like him to begin with, even for no one to replace him. But hm... I'd probably take Wrex. Having the original squad back in form with him, myself, and Garrus would be nice.
