I can't figure out how to get this poll as a direct entry in the forums section, so I can only post the link here.

The idea is to grab a list of potential folks that the community thinks would make a good or great moderator, and ones that are willing to pay attention to threads, sticky requests etc, at least once per month.

Currently, the three or four "community" members that were chosen when this site was created have all seemed to disappear and Bioware employess have sooo much on their plates that checking all the NWN forums for sticky requests etc is well down on their lists.

Maybe if we can get some new folks that are generally known in the community, folks that have a proven track record of being open minded AND a PROVEN record of helping the community in general, maybe, just maybe, we can get one of the Bioware Super Moderators to promote these folks to help manage things around here.

I fully apologize if anyone thinks I am stepping on anyone's toes, or not choosing them for any specific reason, I am just throwing out names of folks that I have watched for years as they continue to help the NWN community.

Please respond as you see fit.  And also note that I have NOT asked the folks I am proposing to se if they are willing.  Sorry for that, but Someone needs to get some attention about this issue around here and that is all I am attempting to do.

Where I do appreciate the thought,  I do believe that I have proven myself far to unreliable to hold such a position.   I would offer  the NWN Community Server Status and info. thread as proof of my statment.

Sorry Sen, I have a proven track record of getting involved with flame wars. I seriously doubt some of the community would want me in the mix.

We need level headed folks... most times I am, but I can get carried away too. Most especially if my diabetes is acting up. My moods swing widely and I become unpredictable. Which is why I no longer do telephone tech-support jobs... I sorta snap too easily.

Ok, as has been requested, I have created a NEW poll with some additional nicks added, and other options for a more varied series of answers. With a better description of what I am attempting to find.

I have received a request to remove Old Time Radio for consideration. He stated that he will continue to help the community and continue to mod for us all, but he doesn't have the time to actually be a moderator for the forums.

I will of course respect his request.

lightfoot8 also requested to not be considered for nomination as he has too much on his plate already.

Gosh... I am rather shocked to be included in this list. CC and scripting forums are not exactly where I have spent most of my forum time.

In fact, between my MP group breaking up, an extremely chaotic life and Mass Effect 3/NWN vid card driver incompatibilities I haven't even managed to play NWN this year.

HipMaestro and Six spring to mind as missed possibilities. I would suggest some more but they'll probably fireball me for it

SO..... while I won't remove myself from this list, I will inform that my RL is chaotic and am not a reliable long term choice. If AD /wants/ this tho, I do remove myself from the list.

Well, I intend to keep the Poll open until Sunday evening sometime, then create a message that has links to the poll itself, the poll thread, and the various folks accounts that have been suggested and have agreed to help us out.

So far we have 4 folks still in the running, AD, Rolo, Shia, and henesua - in that order of votes. Some of the folks that were suggested via comments have already stated they are not interested so I won't add them to a newer poll or suggest them to Bioware Super Mods. And of course some folks on the pole directly stated they were not interested either.

Anyway, intending to keep poll thread going until Sunday to give folks a full week of voting options so that I am as fair to the community as possible while also limiting the votes to folks that actually VISIT at least once per week.

Well, the poll is limited in what you can vote for, there is no option for more than one selection. So, if someone like me wants multiple folks from the list to be considered, all that person can do it "vote for all".

However, if you feel that you should bow out for this misunderstanding, I won't stop you.

Except to say that I personally consider you to be one of the best choices on the list.

I tend to not vote when it's something like this that my name is included in, preferring instead to sit back and observe.  I say we keep you included in the list.

As was mentioned above, Old Time Radio stated that he did not have the time to focus for moderation and Lightfoot8 also decided to bow out of the competition.

If your nick was not nominated in either of he polls or you feel that any of this was unfair I apologize wholeheartedly, but do need to remind you that polls here are NOT attached directly to threads, and they are very limited in how votes are counted, a person can only vote once, so it was either pick one or all or none.

All of the 4 candidates I believe will do an excellent job and will dedicate themselves to providing us a more focused group of moderators for the Custom Content and Scripting forums.

Now all we have to do is wait.

Ok folks, I had attempted to get Ninja Stan (Stanley Woo) to help us with this, but he is no longer employed by Bioware and suggested that I contact Chris Priestly instead.

I have just sent him a message with links to this thread and to the original Poll.

Well, at this stage, I put 4 folks up on the request.
1)TAD
2)Rolo
3)henesua
4)Shia

Firstly by vote count, 2ndly by their own respective requests and statements on what time they will be able to commit. OTR specifically requested to NOT be included in the list as he has too many other commitments and didn't feel like he could fill out the time and extra duties to help the community more than he already is. Shia basically said the same sort of thing, she didn't have a large amount of time, but would be willing to help if asked. TAD and Rolo both stated that they were honored and more than willing to help.

All 4 are great folks. As the request has already been sent. I did the best I could with the poll, but since we have limited voting options, IE only one vote, and only one choice allowed, along with other limitations, I had to make a sort of management style decission... we all know how those typically come out, but hopefully, Chris will be able to help us get some new blood, that actually still pays attention to NWN1 to help us out as moderators.
