Can you mistakenly sell equipped items?

I just started playing ME1 and I was wondering if you could accidentally either sell or turn into omni-gel any EQUIPPED items.  I don't know what to sell sometimes as I have too much but I see that I might be able to sell Shep's armor and weapons.  So if I do does that mean they become UNequipped?  Same for omni-gel.  Can I make a big mistake in the game this way or will the game prevent this?

Thanks.

Sell, no, don't think that's possible. Further, you can't sell a weapon plus any mods and ammo upgrades fitted to it - they're removed and returned to your inventory. However, the inventory is a bit of a mess since you can't reorder it and I find it not all that hard to stick something in the inventory temporarily and then sell it by accident. Since you can buy back from the merchants it's not too big a deal when you sell something you meant to keep, but AFAIK there's no way to un-omnigel something once you've gellified it.

Thanks, but how do you stick something temporarily in the inventory?, and what does AFAIK mean?

By temporarily I just meant with the intention of re-equipping it soon, not that there's a game function or anything. And AFAIK = as far as I know.

Oh, okay, I like AFAIK.  Sorry, I don't know all of these internet shorthand acronyms.  Thanks for your help, at least now I don't have to worry about accidentally having Shepard or a squad member lose something they have equipped.  I could only imagine selling most of your stuff and then seeing the squad sans armor or weapons.  :o

Don't worry, that can't happen. On the other hand, selling most of your decent stuff and not having the right armour and weapons.... that you do need to watch out for. I speak as someone who got rid of nearly all the armour piercing/tungsten and anti-personnel ammo right before the point at which the game stopped giving me any more of them.  Didn't realise at the time that ammo types changed at rank VII/VIII.

Thanks for the tip!  I'm turning level I, II, & III stuff into omni-gel, selling the level IV & V stuff and keeping the ammo, upgrades and especially armor for when the squad levels up in armor.
