So, I just heard about the Mass Effect movie. A question I've been thinking about, is who will Shepard romance with? My pick would be Tali, who would you like to see?

Tali would be pretty cool. For me its a hard choice between tali and Ashley. for some reason though im willing to bet if there is ever a canon story line it would be liara.

Personally I want Liara, but I love her so don't take my word

Not keen on movie adaptations of long and in depth RPGs. Partly it leads towards a canon storyline with canon LI etc, but mostly because a 90 minute movie can't possibly do justice to a 25-30+ hour game.

Well don't forget that most of the 25-30+ hours is side missions. I heard it was Legendary Studios making it so it souldn't be that bad if they sum it up just right.

And I forgot to add that some people from the Bioware team are working on the movie also.

I doubt they will make an alien the LI, and we know Shepard is going to be male in the movie. That leaves us with Ashley, Miranda, Jack, Traynor or Kelly. Traynor and Kelly have very minor roles, and Miranda and Jack doesn't appear in ME1 at all, so my bet is on Ashley.

Also part of the problem: ME1 really is mostly side missions. If you strip them out it's actually pretty light on story. But mostly my scepticism is that I can count the number of good movie from game adaptations on the fingers of one ear. Stuff like Super Mario Bros and Street Fighter were almost inevitably going to be crap, but they still made total cinematic turds out of franchises like Tomb Raider and Resident Evil. I thought the Resident Evil movie in particular was so mindblowingly awful that it put me off the game - sorry if anyone here liked it but every time I played the game it reminded me of what a bloody awful film they'd made and left a bad taste in the mouth. In hindsight it'd have been better if that was still in development hell. It's not my least favourite movie but I really did hate it that much.zzR3V0LUTI0Nzz wrote...

The thing is that what makes a good game does not necessarily make a good (as distinct from profitable, which is easy when you already have a solid fan base you can rely on handing over $20) movie. In fact what makes a game at all is that the player controls the central character, and by the nature of the medium that has to be the very first thing to go out the window when you turn it into a book or a movie. That's true even of a linear shooter, it goes extra for an RPG like Mass Effect. It'll be very hard for them to avoid half the audience members thinking 'Why's Shepard doing that, that's stupid", and not only that but they'll be all thinking it in different places. An incredibly good story and otherwise well made movie will make up for that, but while ME's story is damn good for a game I'd say it's nothing hugely special for a movie. Maybe if they go and mine the books (something else I've avoided) for backstory and plot elements....
So unless Mass Effect the movie gets unprecedented good reviews I'll almost certainly give it a miss. I don't mean it's got to win Oscars or anything like that, but just get mostly good reviews. And I mean good for movies generally, not just for a game movie because the bar for that is already so low as to be nearly meaningless.

It'd be awesome if they chose Tali.
Unfortunately, it'll probably be Liara. They seem to have a bias towards her in everything else, so why not the movie as well?
