I liked both for way different reasons.

Kelly was just cute as a button and sooo flirtatious that it was hard to ignore her. Plus her haircut made her seem disarming.

Traynor was just awesome because she was an awesome crewman. She would work with EDI on projects and generally was a developing character.

Kelly is really cute and all but she doesn't say much especially if you choose not to flirt with her (you don't even get to hear from her in ME3 in that case !). And all she did -almost- was telling me when I got new messages. On top of that she was a cerberus rat although I always forgive her. Still like her but she wasn't useful at all.

Samantha on the other hand besides being very cool and pretty proves very useful with her intels and I just really like her and enjoyed every single of her conversations. Loved her infamous scene in Shepard's cabin both as male and female, my favourite being turning her down as femshep and Shepard joking about it afterwards during the chess game. I don't romance her but I see her as one of Shepard's best friend.

The only line Samantha says that "annoyed me" was when she tells EDI how she finds her voice attractive in her very first appearance, there was really no need to cry out loud "oh hey I'm the lesbian romance option you fans asked for !!". Unless of course your Shepard is well known in the galaxy for being a womanizer and perhaps she wanted to turn him down immediately before he starts hitting on her ^^.

I liked them both and ideally would have thrown Liara out the airlock and made Traynor the new Shadow Broker and then reinstated Kelly as Yeoman.

Kelly couldn't even correctly tell me if I had messages or not.

I liked them both, would have been great to have them both on the ship. Would have to rate Kelly a little higher though because her personality was really cute and I love red heads.

Sam. At least she does stuff. Hell, she puts the Shadow Broker to shame with her information gathering skills. Also hearing her talk science was adorable.

Kelly was just a filthy little hoe-bag spy.

I have to pick Kelly, as she at least added something to the story by serving to ingratiate the player/Shepard to Cerberus. In retrospect, her position on the Normandy highlights TIM's deviousness.

Samantha gave you intel, but it could just as easily have come from Liara, or anyone else, without it making a difference. She existed only because Kelly died in 2 for some players.

Edit: I did enjoy Sam's strong American accent, though, as Anderson's English one wore on my ears.

I honestly prefer Kelly now. I was a big Traynor fan, but looking now, she really is starting to annoy me.

They both have a lot of the same flaws. Traynor at least though has some real relevance. Kelly isn't really what you'd want on a combat mission. She has no combat skills, serving really only as a shrink aboard the ship. I honestly expect she was a honeytrap of some kind.

I think Samantha's character is better-written overall, in that she opines on a variety of topics, contributes to the missions, and has more of a backstory. Kelly only ever talks about a few different topics once you get past the initial dialogue wheel - her opinions of new crew members, her reactions to a couple of the missions, and the flirtation or general talk about romantic preferences.

On the other hand, Kelly might actually be slightly more "valuable" in showing the diversity of the ME2 crew, given all the Cerberus personnel and other shady types on board, whereas Samantha is just another Alliance officer, albeit one with a strictly non-combat background.

Kelly, Traynor was boring and unnecessary. Kelly was much more 'fun' and planned to be there, Traynor just got stuck on the ship, if I had the option I would have swapped Kelly for her in an instant.

Both.

In BroSheps voice to both of them :-

"Report to my cabin as soon as possible, we'll bang okay ?"

Samantha   <3

Wonderful character with a lovely romance-arc that I will be happy to replay one day. It was really so much more than what I first expected it to be since she is not one of the companions that you bring with you. Kelly is a good friend to all my FemShep's but it Samantha is just so much more to me.

Traynor. I found it easier to believe her as a communications specialist than Kelly as a ship's counselor

Traynor by far, in that she felt more like a well-realised character, with personal development and helping you with missions. Kelly didn't feel like anything more than a glorified receptionist with a perchant for xenophillia.

Plus, Traynor had a way cuter accent.

Samantha Traynor by a long shot. Kelly Chambers had the disadvantage of being Cerberus. My Shepard kept her at arms length at all times. Kasumi had more interesting things to say about crew members. I never bought fish, and I certainly wasn't interested in a lap dance, so Kelly was irrelevant. When she started doing the white flashes like Thane, it almost made me wish I didn't make it in time to save her.

I was afraid Samantha was going to be Kelly 2.0, but she pleasantly surprised me. She actually had a personality. I liked her character growth. She wasn't sure how much help she'd be, but she applied herself, and pulled through for Shepard during his/her lowest point. She was just a better written character than Kelly was.

Chambers causes a ship-wide scale itch outbreak, most likely due to spending time with Urz.

I liked then both very much, but I think Iliked Traynor better as she played a function in the story ie she found imformation about Grissom Academy and helped to save a bunch of biotic students including Jack, she also helped us track Kai Leng to Horizan.

Kelly was never really that important to the plot, she`d let us know when one of our squadies had problems but other then that she was redundent to the story. That said though, I can invite Kelly to my cabin and get her to dance for me which is one up on playing a game of chess.

Traynor. Actually useful during a war. She overshadowed the Shadow Broker.

Liara provided the means to end the cycle trap *crucible blueprint* AND the back up plan should thing go bad * time capsule*

not enough for you?

True. But that was Liara the archaeologist at work, Liara the Shadow Broker did nothing.

Bear in mind she did lose her base, and a huge percentage of her spies.:D
