Hi all,

I am stuck completely at a black screen after the Intro Shield Movie plays and Harbringer and his cohorts descend to Earth. I get a black screen with sound (of rain and wind) and when I alt-tab it always shows Not responding. Sucks since I am like 40 hours into gameplay with no issues and I am totally stuck.
The rest of the game played fine with no issues.

I am on Win XP SP3, have 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo, with 2GB RAM and a 9800GT Nvidia card. I am on v1.03
of Mass Effect 3 and running the latest version of Origin (beta?).

I have tried all different resolutions, turned off all anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, dynamic shadows, even sound and used subtitles. No difference. I have also tried windowed mode and matching it to the native resolution of the monitor (borderless mode). Nothing different. I have tried running it directly from the executable as opposed to the shortcut on the desktop. No difference. I have even tried removing the Intro Shield.bik and running a repair install with Origin and ... nothing.

The only odd anomaly is I tried running forcing vsync on and I think it crashed to desktop once in there with all my combinations as opposed to the black screen hang. Other than that all outcomes are the same.

The problem is the most recent save is the Autosave that keeps getting updated and I have to replay the darn final sequence to launch the missiles (like 20 times now).

Is it possible the autosave is corrupted somehow?

Thoughts?

Really frustrated. :(

Thanks ahead of time.

Edit:

Turns out starting from an earlier save did not help. Same blasted issue.  I am on Origin 8.6.0.357 (the latest I think). My video drivers are on 296.10 for the 9800 GT.  Should I roll something back?

Update:

Still hosed. I replayed from a much earlier save in one continuous chain without dying or alt-tabbing and it still black screened on me as soon as the Intro Shield movie stops playing.

So to be clear it is the sequence after that movie stops playing where I hang. Btw while the movie is playing it continually says "loading" in the bottom right corner is that normal? I don't remember seeing "loading" icons when the the .bik movies are playing.

Note I also tried once with the CPU priority level set to high and no luck.

Issue Resolved!

Full reinstall via Origin of the game and the Extended Cut DLC.
Somehow installation from the DVDs was corrupted. Gah! All those wasted tests. Sigh.

Ah man, I hope I dont have to go through waiting for this to download. Im having a similar issue. Im only an hour into the game and I cant enter huerta memorial hospital on the citadel. It gets stuck on loading much like you you said you were doing. Its a movie of the citadel in the background while it "loads." The video doesnt freeze and the loading keeps spinning so they game isnt locking up, its just not loading.

At any rate Im installing from DVD's now. Hope it fixes it, but sounds like I might just have to download it grrr.

Once the game is installed, right click mass effect 3 in Origin and choose Repair Install.

Yeah, thought of that after i was reinstalling. Oops. This game is the only thing I use origin for so, not use to messing around with it. Thanks.
