Zoom targetting bug

When right-clicking to target enemies my zoom function will randomly fail, most noticeably with sniper rifles.  Despite holding the mouse button down, the view will randomly switch back to normal as though I had released the targeting zoom.  Needless to say, it makes combat difficult to impossible since it forces me to hip fire.

I don't use a wireless mouse, so battery life is not the issue.  This is something that has only cropped up in the last few days, the game was playing fine for months.  Any ideas?

I have the exact same problem. It appeared a couple of weeks ago and makes the Black Widow unplayable, especially when behind cover. Stand, duck, zoom in, zoom out, stand, duck etc etc, it's like a loop. Extremely irritating.

I'm not sure, but it might be like reload cancel...something interrupted. I've had this happen to me as well. Also, there are some angles where you really can't aim for other reasons when under cover, I think zoom tends to be unstable when you approach those angles. People will notice it more with a sniper weapon, but I've had it on just about every weapon with a scope, pistols to sniper rifles.

This has been happening to me for the last week with very high frequency in Multiplayer.

Previously I'd notice something similar when I was in cover. But it was at most twice per match. Now it happens 5+ times per match and usually when I'm scoping and not in cover. Javelin, widow, black widow for sure.

:o/

Are you guys experiencing this in MP, SP, or both?

I think it has nothing to do with lag and cover since it happened to me in single player with nothing else happening on the screen while just trying to zoom in while standing.

Happens in ME2, ME3 single and multiplayer. I don't have mouse problems outside of these games and it occurs very randomly.

Updating my Razer Naga firmware and drivers might have helped, but it started again after a while, so who knows?

I've run through all the typical solutions I can think of to solve this:
  • Updated graphics drivers after sweeping registry of old ones.
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled Mass Effect 3.
  • Checked for overheating issues, hardware conflicts.
Game is basically unplayable, and this is the only bug/anomaly I experience during play.

I mentioned above why I thought it might be occurring, but should emphasize I have had this happen to me as well...so I know it has nothing to do with your mouse, it is the game. In any case, I'm sure something is canceling the right click zoom...one thing that can do this is somehow starting the action then forcing reload; I'm not saying this is the reason why yours sometimes cancels, just that this seems to be what is triggered. When this happens to me I try to be sure my weapon is loaded, but yes, it is annoying and causes missed shots sometimes when it should not. But don't worry about your mouse, it isn't the problem.

Update: Changed mouse and problem solved. Both are Logitech & the first mouse has no issues with any other game or application, but there it is.

Really thought this would be a software issue. In my case it was not.

That seems strange, but I'm wondering something. Did you already have drivers installed for both? Logitech seems to have some problems with other drivers...which is the software side, rather than hardware. I also have a Logitech mouse. This particular one is programmable...even if your other is also Logitech, I wanted to find out if it had separate drivers.

They're both using the same old microsoft driver. Looks like the default Windows 7 one.

What logitech mouse were you using, and what have you switched to? I've not had any issues with the older or newer MX518, or the G400 (all default drivers)

This has happened to me before, I have an old Logitech Click!

However, this wasn't a game issue, I think it is actually an intermittent issue with the right mouse button that is really only noticeable when you hold it and try to move the mouse. It will lose contact.

I opened mine up and cleaned it out and it happens much less frequently now.

im also getting this bug and originally thought it might be my mouse as my Imperator has gone through a bit of wear. I made sure I ws holding the right mouse down firmly etc instead the slightly angled finger posture I have but it didnt seem to make a difference.

I tested it a few diff ways and found that it only happend during combat. no matter how many times i kept the right mouse down when out of combat it didnt fail just during combat if im behind cover or not and even whem im not taking any damage it still unscopes a fair bit of the time and is rather annoying since I just started my Infil.
