A truly mature game like The Witcher (uncensored, *** americans) and TW2, set in the Dragon Age universe.

Personally, do not define this as mature.

Well since you never played it you wouldn't really know.

I want Bioware to make a game that doesn't treat my like some dumb, angsty teen.

Wasn't ref the game, but the language used to define it. And perhaps you could try RP?

Oh and Obsidian and Bioware should team up to make KOTOR 3, but that would never happen.

SWTOR did not happen.  What they did to Revan was so sad.

Usually I'm the bitter old man. What's up with these forums?

I for one would like BioWare to have their own style and I honestly prefer their old style to TW2. So my biggest hope for BioWare is that they take some of the more constructive criticism of particularly DA2 to heart.

Apparently those who hate DA2 just can't understand it.

Yeah that must be it. I'm such an airhead!

Still, I will welcome back the BioWare that does release a good new game. No use crying on their forums for all eternity.

I find it a little sad that all people seem to want is just another sequel of an existing intellectual property... how about Bioware making a new IP entirely? Something new for a change, not just rehashes of old games.

^It's because Bioware has cemented their reputation. They frown upon new ideas and want to leech off of whatever has proven to be profitable. They don't care about making good games, they care about making good selling games. There's an inherent difference between the two.

Can agree with that.

I'd like to see them try and go for a solid single game where they don't have to worry about imports and all that mess. Focus on wide variations and outcomes based on the player's choices.

I always thought a really neat idea would be making a game about being an undercover cop. Basically you'd have to work on assuming an identity, focusing on making it thorough and consistant while at the same time gaining respect and loyalty of criminals. Certain members would either take a liking to you and help you out, or they'd become mistrustful and you'd have to go to extra lengths to not break your cover with them.

When you are doing all this you also have to remember that you are cop and that you can't cross the line too far with the law. You'd have to try and find an even enough balance between being a convincing criminal, and not getting in trouble with your superiors. Could lead to some possibly interesting and tough choices that could split off into some wildly different outcomes. Perhaps even turn around and star working for the criminals, feeding them information and become a mole within the police force.

Eh...a guy can dream.

New IP? What for? There's no need to create another universe that revolves around a disney-eque black and white story against big bad ancient evil and is full of juvenile player ego tripping and waifu/manfu romancing when ME and DA suffice.

Because it's easier to make sequels and they're still profitable. Unfortunate but true. Bioware's hardly the only offender though.

People are not asking for rehashes of old games but new games that perhaps take place in existing game worlds (and maybe not, just a possibility). There's nothing wrong with that. For example, you could easily make a good new game in the Mass Effect universe that isn't tied to the Shepard story (well, if it happens before the ME3 ending anyway!).

I also don't think it's sad to wish for a sequel to a game you considered fun. I would like to see more of the world of Jade Empire for example, without it being the same old game of course.

I don't agree with everything BioWare does and in particular some of their more recent games have had serious issues if you ask me. However, I also think some people here automatically interpret anything BioWare says or does in an extremely negative way. It's a bandwagon, and I don't like it one bit.

For example: In this thread we are complaining that BioWare are so lazy they only want to make sequels. Has it occurred to you that some people actually WANTED a sequel for Mass Effect for example? Why must it always be twisted into a negative around here? Newsflash: The Witcher 2 is a sequel! It has hero worship! But oh no, it's not a negative thing when god-developer hybrids CDPR are behind it :)

That's because The Witcher 2 was done well. Mass Effect 3 was not. Dragon Age 2 was not. See the disconnect between those two groups?

Oh I do. Don't get me wrong this is not an attack on TW2. But it's just that while some of the criticism of DA2 and ME3 in particular is spot on, a lot of it is just seems like random attacks on BioWare to me.

But I admit I do not see the difference between the two (or three) cases of hero worship. I actually don't even see what the problem is in the first place.

From my experience after playing all thre games is that ME3 suffers from the same thign DA2 suffered from. The framework for a potentially well made game is there, but it is clear that it was rushed, corners were cut and in many places the writing was not as well done as it was in previous installments of the game.

The Witcher has the benefit of having a defined story, characters and a world to take place in. The original was well done, so the game only needs to follow suit. Which is has.

So the comparison between the two groups are very different since one in an adaptation and the other is an original piece of work. But the final product seems to be well made at CDPR and BW seemed to drop the ball after ME2.

BW already dropped the ball with ME2 by making it a pointless series of inane daddy issue quests instead of advancing the main plot. All the problems with ME3 stem largely from the series going off the rails with 2 which it never recovered from.

I agree 100% android. Unfortunately, that isn't really my point here.

We were told that it's not good enough to wish for BioWare to make sequels because apparently making sequels is lazy. I think it's nonsense.

Hero worship was also brought up as a negative. There I am simply asking: Why does this not apply to TW2? Half-cyborg supersoldier or badass monsterkiller with superpowers. Definite hero worship in both cases.

Indeed. The series would have faired better if part of ME3's plot was in ME2. The gathering of war assets comes to mind.
