Wait...Pokemon is still alive!? How long has this been!? I feel so out of the loop....
Alive and strong, it's up to generation V now with about 650 of the little sh*ts now existing. And about one fifth of them are 'legendaries'. I quote 'legendaries' because I don't even know what they're meant to symbolise or their reasons for being 'legendary', like #493 is Arceus, the pokemon
God, you would think nothing would surpass the pokemon God but nope just continues to the next grass starter. This is what pokemon is, the same thing repeated over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, and somehow it works.
I think I remember the creators of pokemon or Miyamoto saying that because the fanbase is 'cyclical' they can continue to rehash the same thing again and again because they'd always get a new fanbase to support it, not sure if they actually said that though. But it appears to be true; New game, same story: You come from X town and start off your journey with Rival X who picks the element stronger than your starter pokemon. You go on your journey all over Continent X defeating the 8 Gym Masters, all a while you stop Evil Team X from taking over the world (Since Gen III with legendary pokemon) and then challenge the Elite 4 and Champion X to become the new champion without any recognition. And this has been happening since 1998.
