Guys, can anyone tell me why now she has different sized heels and why she has a hand up like that (is she trying to stop a bullet)? Do you think they're gonna add a blue/purple glow to make her look like she's using biotics? Cause these are my only problems with the concept so far and I really want to get her.

The reason why her heels will be different sizes will be because she will have been designed so her feet sit flat on the base, either with pegs (like Liara) or she'll be screwed onto the base. And if she was to be sing biotics, they'd have put it into the character design - the Storm Bishoujo has has lightning coming off her hands and you get that as an attachment with the figure too. FemShep won't be using Biotics.

nice Liara statue. I thought about buyimg one for my gaming room but backed out at the last minute. Ive read about the FemShep figure but will prob pass on that one too.

My first collectable Mass Effect item that I recieved last week is the Antique Silver replica of the Normandy. Its acctually quite nice and looks very very sharp on my desk.

Ive held back on buying any of the Mass Effect replica weapons im kinda hoping they create a replica Javalin rifle or the N7 leather jacket.

But what I would like most would be a quality professionally made 24 or 32inch tall replica of Legion with lights and his sniper rifle. Nothing plastic but made out of quality metal. Limited edition as well - id buy that even if a Legion replica was priced at a grand.

Sideshow is making what you want. They confirmed Shepard and Thane so far. But it won't be made out of metal...

I know that she has to stand on a surface and all, but they could still make her heels look beliavable, or put her in a pose where they would have the same height.
And wait. Are you saying she IS trying to stop a bullet with the palm of her hand? Because if not using biotics, what is she doing?
I get the thing about Bishoujos and hell, I won't care if her heels look like she has two different pair of shoes, but
what's with her hand? Is she dramatically telling a squad member to hold position? Doing a dance move? Trying to deflect direct light? Waving goodbye to a husk? I'm just honestly curious. It doesn't make any sense to me.

The Sideshow manShep's pose is confusing as well, as Diego said "does he think he's Wolverine?" XD He's just standing with his arms back like... Wolverine. I really don't get these poses. Where's the shooting and punching? Or just a pose where I can understand what they're doing and why.

She is simple in a pose that let her show her assets and at the same time, trying not to be to much explicit or the fan base will rage.

Simples as that, don't try to see reason or anything else in this bishoujos...

The Sideshow statues however, is a different story.

So you could have just said that you agree with me and that her pose makes no sense at all, instead of making excuses for the line. Yes I will try to see sense in it if I want.

The other bishoujos have poses that make sense, even the MIB agent (even though that pose is horrible and she looks like she's hella uncomfortable), you can clearly tell she's just "striking a pretty pose". You don't have to wonder if she's trying to catch a bullet, wave hello, high-five someone, etc. An artist's job is to clearly illustrate something (and yes, I would know). Shunya failed in that with femShep's pose cause no one seems to be able to tell what the hell is going on.

Obviously it's an easy fix, if they only made some glow on her arm to indicate she's using biotics. To me that's still the most logical explanation.

I am not sure my explanation is what your looking for but I'll give it a try.

I don't know, maybe I am wrong and I could be completely off but In my opinion I see the pose as some sort of way to symbolize that she is a protector. Figuratively speaking it looks like she is putting her arm out in a defensive position to convey an attribute of strength and courage.

However as mentioned It could also be that way to show off her features, I think Femshep is also different in that she is not just striking a pretty pose but it could be meant to convey an aura about Shepard that she is strong, fearless and most importantly a protector and guardian to the people she is trying to save. Though I do agree the artist could of done a bit better with the pose.

Then again it could be me just reading to much into it or putting meaning in the silly hand gesture that doesn't exist. :P

She could be commanding the battlefield and telling squad mates to go over there somewhere. And like I said before, *if* she was using biotics, it would have been shown on the figure and the sketch (like it was with the Storm figure) but it wasn't.

So no biotics for FemShep! ^_^

KiddDaBeauty wrote...

It's
the "X-Force Edition" of X-23. The reason behind that one, was fans
were pissed at the original release of X-23 having a happy look on her
face and complained that she should be more mad.

What I'm looking for is just the answer to "what is she doing" :P I got my answer: it's anyone's guess.

Lol Kurt-Niisan2, sorry but I disagree, there are no rules for figures like you keep implying, the artist doesn't need to be that consistant because obviously if he was, this one would have a clear pose that doesn't need explanation.

I prefer to imagine the biotics glow myself, or imagine she just finished using pull so the glow has faded away. I don't mind that much using my imagination... and any explanation for the question needs just as much imagination (like imagining her crew there being commanded). It's not gonna stop me from wanting this figure.

And specially since I will probably be painting her hair black to look like my Shep. Hey, I guess at least with confusing poses you can put your own spin on it, and I can just change from "she just threw a random power on some enemies" to "she's telling Jack not to kill everyone".

@DiegoRaphael

The only new ones ive seen on sideshow.com would be the EDIOS versions of Ashley Garrus and Shep.

I spotted those before they hit the bioware treehouse page. Thought about buying the new Garrus but declined on that one too.

Im not that big of a collector of any action figures and not really into buying just anything. If the figure is the hieght of a 2liter soda bottle and of extreem high defintion quality and detail of the Mass Effect characters then i certainly would not hesitate to drop down the money for it.

But those small tiny plastic action figures they sell in mass quantities just look so cheap.

I preordered the new Issac Clark statue. Thats the kind of replica id like buy of Normandy team.

There is likely no practical reason for the pose. The Bishoujo line is meant to pose them in a glamorous, attractive way. My Shepard uses that same hand gesture for tech attacks, only the omni-tool is glowing around her arm.

The heels were taken down probably to make the armor look more serious and practical and tough, but adding just enough to make it look feminine and sexy.

That answer your question?

Edit: I am also under the impression the Sideshow broShep is poseable, and they just gave him an awkward one at CC. Lol.

You clearly didn't read any of my posts as I already replied to the points you made (and Premium Format figures are statues, they don't have articulations). And I also never said anything about her heels being "taken down", my complaint is they look like they are of different sizes.
But I'll quote a few of my posts in one neat place:

So no, you didn't answer my question, but I already have my answer, so you don't have to.
In addition, the thing you said about tech attacks is the exact same thing I said about biotics, but you didn't read that.

I was evaluating a piece that I have said I like, if none of you want to do so, you don't have to and can just ignore me, but don't tell me I shouldn't just because of the art style. It starts sounding like animu artists who go "but it's my style!" when they get a crit.

----
On a different subject finally - I prefer cheap action figures to huge statues... I just kinda love poseable things, they're so much fun, and they bring me nostalgic thoughts of the action figures I played with as a kid (that I still have). Huge and heavy make it really hard for me to consider buying, specially overseas... I feel bad considering dropping 300 USD on a statue. And most things that look too real or like replicas of actors kinda scare me.
I like Shunya's style even with his TA poses and most of his faces looking the same, though some sculpts don't look as good.
If they make a Premium Format Garrus though I might team up with a someone to rob a bank -_-

@inusannonn The Garrus, Ash and Sheploo are action figures from the Play Arts Kai line (by Square Enix)... the Sheploo statue Diego is talking about is a Premium Format (PF) statue by Sideshow Collectibles, here.

Lol Suspire, but if you go back and look over the artwork and the range for the Bishoujo series you'll find that 99% of the time the final figures are VERY close to the original artwork, so yes if there's no effect in the art it is highly likely there won't be any effect on the figures.

Go look at the artwork, and then the figures for:
- Jean Grey (X-Men)
- Storm (X-Men)
- Miss Marvel (X-Men)

All have energy effects in the art and with the figure. Therefore, by past released figures, it is easy to guess that FemShep will not have any Biotic/Tech energy effects on her hand when the figure releases.

And lol if you read my comments, I never said anything about their final products changing or not.

What I said was they don't need to follow the same rules from the other figures, just cause Storm has some effects to show her powers doesn't mean the others need to have. It's not a rule "if there's no colored plastic thing on her arm, it means she doesn't have powers, so Shepard doesn't have powers", you just made that up.
The artist could have meant for her to have powers and just didn't draw it (so it just isn't pictured with the statue, like the crew you said she's commanding, so you have to imagine it's there). Though I think he might have no idea what she's doing either, or if he did, he obviously hasn't conveyed it well as an illustrator because no one can tell, just make guesses

I would hope for more clarity in the sculpt, which could be easily done, but like you I don't see it happening. Maybe they'll add a small blurb (text) about the statue when they release her and that could help.

Edit: also all the figures you mentioned don't have the confusion about wth they're supposed to be doing, so that logic of "all of them are done the same way" can't apply to all figures.

I already put some duct tape on it.

About the face, i've seen lots and lots of Liara statues with a big seam on her right cheek. Mine has this too, but you have to look and inspect very closely to see it.

And example of what im talking about are these pics from another person statue:
