Would you rather have a small but good DLC like LotSB that could be released sometime soon, or a full on expansion like Dragon Age: Awakening, but we would probably have to wait a full year to have. Discuss.

Much better an Expansion. It worth it! I prefer an Expansion Pack then a DLC because it includes more things and it's one big pack.
DLC have the advantage to be released in short times, but they are too "small"...I think DLC can be used just for small contents and something secondary (like small side stories), instead an Exp Pack is "complete": it's another small game, cheaper than a retail game and way larger than any DLC!

So I think they are both good, but they should stop confusing DLC with the expansions!

I'd prefer an expansion. Even if it is more expensive and takes longer to produce, I'd rather have some episode with a lot of content rather than just some new weapons or outfits.

How exactly would an expansion work? Would it take place after ME3? Would we still play as Shepard or someone else?

I'd prefer an expansion. But if they take their time on it, DLC can be pretty good. I enjoyed the fuzz out of Legacy, and MOTA in DA2.

I'm not sure how an expansion would work really......... But like simfamSP said, if they take their time on DLC like DA2 did it could be real real good. LotSB was a piece of genius too.

Maybe BioWare could create another act after Act 2, pushing the current Act 3 into a hypothetical Act 4.

Did you play Awakenings? It was so bugged that modders in the fan community had to fix that game in order for it to be playable and even then if you are not tech savvy the game ends up taking up space on your harddrive. I have yet to beat the game because so many quests get bugged and you end up unable to progress the plot further and I am not willing to go online and research what should be fun. Awakenings was an embarrassment to the industry and the devs who made it should be taken out in public and paddled on their bare bottoms for that act of thievery.

LotSB DLC everytime bug free and worth the price. Bioware should pay me for buying that crap awakening.

I'd prefer both. I do enjoy the occasional small addition to get me back in the game....alt appearance, weapons, a small mission(single player ONLY though, I don't play MP garbage) and so on are all good with me. Beyond that I would certainly also welcome an expansion.

Both. But Expansion would obviously be preferred if I was forced to choose

Since there was no Expansion packs for either ME1/ME2/DA2, i dont think we are getting one for ME3.

And its far more easy to milk with DLCs...

I'm pretty reluctant towards DLCs, I've always prefered full expasion sets.

Expansion Packs group what would be a number of different DLC's together, which would be far better. However, I know that Expansions take longer to develop than DLC's, so more wait...

(though') I like to think that ME3 feels more like an expansion to ME2 rather than a complete new game, I mean; I beat the whole thing in 3 days on hardcore, I say those are grounds for an expansion play time.

That I really can't answer.

I'd like a big arse expansion. No, wait. I'd LOVE a big arse expansion.

But I would want instant gratification too. Can I have both?

Expansion Packs.

Expansion Packs were great because it meant developers actually had to put a decent amount of effort into the thing in order to justify the price of it (usually just over half of what it cost for the original game).

DLC made them lazy, but it's also easier to milk money out of DLC so we all know what EA will have 'em do.

What if the expansion dealt with the reject ending? You could play as Shepard and make one final stand against the Reapers.

A larger expansion will give Bioware the budget to recall most of the cast to record additional lines. Otherwise you end up with silent squadmates (Overlord) or crappy "VI" voice stand-ins (Joker in Arrival).

I do not see how either one will work, given the closure of the endings.

Anything they write that fits in prior to the ending will not change the endings. I am not bashing the EC - I actually enjoy it.

When you close the book on the main character of a story - one that we all loved and cared for - it is very hard to go back. It makes no sense to help Aria take Omega or do anything else when the book is closed. The future is set for our poor Shepard - and it is not a pretty one.

This is why I believe that the devs hate Shepard. They closed the story - the one they had made that was so much joy for us. They have eliminated his future. With no future, I have no hope. With no hope, there is no reason to live - I might as well be a machine doing what I'm programmed to.

I also cannot trust that in the ME universe, there will be any hope for any new hero - given how they have treated the Shep. These grim and grey dark endings have the effect of sealing off the timeline.

The problem is if they take the year to do a proper expansion and there is something wrong with it this community will burn these forums to the ground, but if they release DLC over the course of a year they can get better instead of an expansion that could fail because of issues (Awakenings I am looking at you), we could have an installment the quality of Lair of the Shadowbroker.

One thing to consider as well, if you add the story DLC together for Mass Effect 2 the cost comes to a total of $31 with an additional $10 for outfits that I believe would be DLC no matter what, and from my experiences with Awakenings it would take about the same amount of time to complete them as it would an expansion.
