Since I posted on so many "end hate" threads when the game came out, I think I owe Bioware the courtesy of writing here that the Extended Cut ending was decent. It wasn't perfect, and it still wasn't the ending the Mass Effect series deserved, but it was enough to calm my previous rage.

To me, the perfect ending would have shown how the War Assets contributed to the final battle, it would have had a bunch of battles inside the Citadel, where you would see the results of the help you provided (or didn't provide) to the Citadel defense force and it would have ALWAYS ended with the reapers destroyed by the Crucible (best way, imo, would be for the Crucible to disrupt Reaper systems around it, making them vulnerable to conventional weapons). I'm counting on the Marauder Shields comics to deliver that, but the Extended Cut was a decent effort on Bioware's part.

I'm happy with the EC. It explained it well enough for me to be able to be excited for SP DLC. :-D

Loved the EC, thought Mass Effect 3 was the best of the series and chose Synthesis. I am effectively anti-BSN. Still my favourite series, and Mass Effect 3 is my favourite game, besides DA2

I'm happy with the EC endings. I hope we can move on and stop talking about the endings.

I think a lot of people just had unrealistic expectations of the EC. They expected Bioware to completely gut the ending and give them a new one with almost nothing related to the original. Naturally they were disappointed. Others took the pessimistic view that nothing whatsoever could fix the ending, even if Bioware was to actually give them a new ending. Thus they clung to that viewpoint despite the fact that the EC actually did make things better. How much better is a matter of opinion, but I don't know anyone who thinks that the EC made the ending worse.

Everything in the EC was an improvement, and they even managed to preserve IT...
Going so far as to leave the breath scene untouched...

I'm fairly close to that to be honest, despite my earlier criticisms on this thread. I've still got problems with the EC (so perhaps I'm still not welcome here) but the EC made those problems tolerable for me.

Uhm.... Mass Effect 3's ending is far from "good". It is perhaps the worse ending in a video game that I've ever experianced.

Considering I hold the single player campaign endings of Call of Duty higher, this is a bad thing.

You hold a vastly different opinion of the endings than I do, good sir.  The Synthesis ending actually made me shed a man tear or two.  Tricia Helfer's VA was absolutely incredible.  I swear she sounded like she was getting choked up a bit at the end.  And the LI hugging EDI was a fantastic touch.  Just an incredible ending, for me.  Loved it.

I think the EC was good and I love all 3 mass effect games. The endings were not perfect, but they were good enough to leave on and meet the emotional satisfaction needed to make them so.

Oh, don't get me wrong, the actors did a wonderful job.

Ending VO's: Awesome

It just doesn't make sense as a whole.
Namely, GlowBoy. Everything about him just... drives me nuts.
Introduces too many plot problems to be simply put away by good VA work.

It's aggrevating, because I see gems of awesome in this game. They are there (Tuchanka, Rannoch, Thane, most of the LI stuff),  but the problem is that there is too much gunky black stuff covering it all up.

Actually, I think the vast majority of players enjoyed the EC endings.  It's the people filled with nerd rage that feel the need to come on forums and vent and post and vent and post, repeatedly.  That is what you are seeing.

Hmm, yes I know a number of people have issues with the very concept of the catalyst.  I did before EC, but now I understand it better and like what they did.  I have a feeling you just didn't like the path they took with the ending and no amount of extended cut scenes would fix the foundation of it for you.  It happens.  If they went another route, someone else would dislike it as well.

It stinks for you, though, as it seems you enjoyed the series.  I know I would be pretty let down if the endings didn't do it for me.

How can people not like the epilogues? I think Shepard, Hackett and EDI talking in the different endings was a perfect idea. How can people not like seeing Tuchanka getting rebuild? How can people not like seeing Wrex holding a Krogan baby with Eve. How can people not like seeing Jack happy with her students, or standing at the cemetary (depending on wich choice you made) How can people not like that??!! Isn't that happy enough?

It's both "not liking the path" and "His introduction causes problems if you look at the past games".
And the last choice of ME2 and ME1 rendered so.... pointless.

Atleast the EC makes me feel something more than "WTF just happened".

I'm with the OP, I totally dug ME3 through and through. I think how they handled the endings was really great and just because the OP thinks they're perfect doesn't mean he's a troll. Lighten up people, not every thread at BSN has to be negative. Yeesh.
