I chose control, so I suppose Shepard did give up his life.

Let's see...sacrifice myself for a bunch of machines that aren't even alive, and sided with the Reapers TWICE?

No way.

Uhm, no, because I shouldn't have to.

If the choice was between a Destroy ending where Shepard lives but the Geth and EDI die, and a Destroy ending where EDI and the Geth survive?

My Shepard would sacrifice himself.

Well, Shepard thought he was going to die destroying them in the first place. Survival isn't a factor in choosing a solution from Shepard's perspective.

As for the question from a player perspective, I would consider it so long as EDI came back as well.

If it was actually explained why that worked.

My Shepard sacrificed himself for a better world (synthesis), and if the option was black and white "you die or geth die" my Shepard would sacrifice himself for the Geth.

No. The only Geth I care for is Legion and he's dead. EDI and the other Geth can just die.

Would I give my life to save a bunch of programs on a hard drive? Are you insulting me

"But, Ruilus, the programs are aware that they exist!" That just makes them incredibly creepy. Nothing a wipe out can't fix.

I probably would have, but the Synthesis ending says the Geth aren't really alive, so no.

Just because they are different from us, doesn't mean they aren't alive. What should matter is they are self aware like organics and have the potential to learn and grow. When I say "grow", I mean "adapt" or "evolve".

Agreed.
My Shepard didn't pick Destroy for self preservation anyway, so if there was a way for her to die rather than them, she'd take it.

Neither did mine.

I chose destroy because it was the only choice which actually kills the Reapers, and didn't expect to get that breath scene in the end. When Shepard took the brunt of that explosion after destroying the tube, I thought he was dead, and I was fine with that. Killing the Reapers was always more important than whether Shepard lived or died.

Yes, hell my Sheps would probably die for just EDI, the more I play the game the more I like her. Geth I don't really care for though after Legion died.

Yes. Well, if we're actually talking me then I can only say "I hope so", since my courage hasn't been put to that sort of test, but for any of my Shepards, then yes.

To be honest, I don't think living with those deaths on your conscience would be much of a prize. Even if you picked Destroy for sound reasons, there'd always be the doubt as to whether it was truly necessary

Well, if you mean Shepard's life, it would mean I got a choice where I don't accept the Catalyst's view of the galaxy.
So yes, yes I would.

If you really mean my life, well, I won't kill myself over a game, so no.

If I'd chosen Destroy and that were somehow made into an option in-game, absolutely.
