So I had that problem a lot of people had where I open up KOTOR and it just crashes right away. I got the 1.03 patch, and now when I try to start it a message comes up and says "Insert play disc" but I bought it on steam, so I have no idea what to do. Any help would be great.

You chose to write as if you had the game console version, but left of which one of those.
If it's a PC version, there's nowhere near enough information. Refer to Selene's description of how to make a NWN problem report. The games use the same engine (Aurora). Follw what she tells you to prepare a proper report that will allow us to try to help you.
