I think whatever you "win" or "lose" in any ending is a matter of personal interpretation.

No you don't. You don't get the "finished game" achievements, so it's just an extended Game Over scene.

If it's not your cycle then YOU don't win. The people who come after you do, but not you personally. Let me, reiterate the Reapers lose next cycle, but you don't win in this cycle and are not around for the next cycle.

Stop failing.

Depends on your Interpretation
I just see it as Shepard Giving up and letting Everyone die, and letting the next idiots try and stop the Reapers.
But hey that's me.

If you think about it refuse is a massive loss for shepard and this cycle, as they'd get defeated and then harvested by the reapers, and then in the next cycle get defeated as reapers

Umm, you win because some future race dealt with the catalyst (according to twitter). So, essentially, there is no way to avoid/reject the catalyst.

Edit: And why did I just post in a thread that only exists to complain about people whinning?

As said a few post up; all the endings could be interpreted and further fleshed out in many ways, good and bad, even after the addition of the EC slides and narration -- just pick your poison, be happy with it and let others be happy with theirs.

By refusing to make the decision, this cycle loses against the Reapers and the AI's "solution." It's a loss. A loss that contributes to a future victory, sure, but it's at the cost of all this cycle's current advanced races and the principle you stand on by refusing isn't worth that cost, especially if it's to avoid a decision that somebody else will have to make sooner or later. The loss of life alone (harvesting of all non-primitive life) is too great for refusal to be considered a victory. At the very least, it would be a victory in the sense that all extinct races of the past which contributed to the Crucible also won. Since they are all dead, they might disagree with that.

No you don't win. You lose, you die, and you kill everyone else in your cycle because you are to arrogant and proud to accept a victory condition that wasn't completely to your liking.

Well, don't you find it funny that the next cycle wins through the Crucible which you refused to use yourself?

Yes, because not wanting to commit genocide, start a galactic dictatorship or violate every living being's genetics is arrogant now.
Oh well, the young will learn..

Nope! It's much better to just kill everyone, and let the survivors be huskified! Everyone's dead, but at least my skewed morals and high horse are intact!

There's a lot of things my Shepard didn't want to do and yet she still had to for the greater good.  I like humans and turians (although I'm pretty amivalent about the asari, quarians, salarians and I don't really like the batarians or vorcha) I think they're worth saving from extinction.

Twitter isn't canon...
It's one person who worked on the game pulling things out of their ass...

The game had nine writers and five editors...
Things were peer reviewed and argued about before making it into the game...
The work itself is canon...

So no, in my opinion the next cycle did not use the Crucible...
We went down fighting and gave the Reapers a pyrrhic victory, and made certain the next cycle was well prepared for them. Liara told them they built the Crucible and it didn't work...

Does that mean sheppinger is flying around next cycle?
