Think about it, what competition does Bioware have? Really?
-The next Witcher game is at least 2 years away
-The next Deus Ex has just gone into development
-Skyrim's hype has died down, there may be another expansion but that'll be it
-Amalur is dead
-Neverwinter Nights is a free-to-play action MMO
-Obsidian is now making a South Park game
-The Game of Thrones RPG failed terribly
-Radon Labs (makers of Drakensang) went bankrupt
Bioware has no competition in the RPG genre. There literally is nothing else.
If you want to play a choice-driven RPG, there is only one company that makes those game and that is why Bioware will reel in the dough, even if their games are no longer fantastic.
There is always options for choice based RPG's. Depends what you want though. I made a thread here listing quite a few (imho fun RPG's being developed currently and a lot of them have such choices). However I never once saw or ever will see it as x developer made run of games you do not enjoy so they won't make one might enjoy ever again or that there is no comeptition left for RPG games can buy instead, that you do not have choices. There is no one or the other as far as I am concerned. There is nothing stopping me or anyone else buying other RPG's from other developers and/or from others plus this one at same time. If you limit yourself to only triple A rated RPG developments funding wise then your only doing yourself a disservice by not seeing the truly enjoyable less funded ones out there.

EDIT: Also, anyone who likes story and choice in their games should check out the Walking Dead game (episode 1 and 2). Those are exceptionally well done and won't break your bank.

I am also really excited for the South Park RPG. I think the quality and action look to be a really cool hybrid of old school turn based action and new, slick looking appearance. As JerryBSN said, Trey and Matt don't go halfway on anything they do - its balls to the wall with their ball jokes.

That Walking Dead series looks good, how long are each episode gameplay wise? From what I read it is like 3 hours long each episode but priced at around £20 each and 5 episodes in total to be made? So about £100 for 15 hour game... Maybe I am wrong if so correct me.

It is something to ponder, and I do think the situation is dire, the scrutiny will be higher as a result of DA2 and ME3.
Also this...
"Make sure your ending is appropriate for your story"
"Don't rush something fans have been waiting five years to see."
Very important points.
I'll being waiting for DA3 to come out, but I hope they learned some new lessons and look towards KOA for world creation. I'll def be waiting until I see solid proof of the game dev being pushed a lot harder than before and taking some of the problems of past titles to heart.Hopefully they will be smart and offer a demo and blow us away.
I love the story in DAO, but hated the gameplay, DA2 loved the combat, but the story telling method was lacking, spells and moves were missing and custom armor was stripped out, and they recycled maps. If they added a random map generator to make random dungeons, it would have been a great game. Only make certain areas that are important fights have a certain look and have all other maps generate under the same feel of that area of the world. DA2 wasnt the worst game ever, but it lacked a lot. ME2 was worst than 1 and 3 made me never want to look at ME again, minus the MP which I didnt even want until I played it. All the dream scenes and the final stretch annoyed me along with the TONS of glitches that broke the game making it unplayable. Other than that, they made some great GP improvements. Sad everything else overshadowed it...

I would never consider any developer in a situation where just because had run of games I might not like aka enjoy as example, that I would stop buying from them in future. That sort of logic doesn't work with me because the next title could always be something I enjoy.
I very much agree with this. I came away with a real bitter taste in my mouth with Oblivion, and I was also a huge fan of Fallout 1 and 2. When Fallout 3 was announced, I hoped it'd be a kickass game that I loved to play.
It was pretty good. New Vegas just turned it into Amazeballs for me
Well that whole argument doesnt work, New Vegas was made by Obsidian (duh). Which still means that anything else developed by Bethesda Softworks you likely would'nt like.
What did you think of Skyrim?
I think that it is foolish to hold on to the hope that the next game would be good after 3 strike outs.
>I loved DAO, DA2 will be incredible!
>It totally failed.
>Oh, well, the next game will be great!
>ME3 totally failed
>Oh well, the next game will be great!
>TORtanic failed
>Well, from what ive seen so far, i should have no reason to believe DA3 will fail!
