http://dragonage.bio.../game/ordermac/

Me, I'm mostly really, really disappointed and annoyed. I have long since played the pc verion through Boot Camp.. and never before this had I heard Bioware was considering a mac version. I can imagine this goes for a lot of other mac gamers, too.

I'm also wondering why they didn't speak of it much, much earlier and why it'll be out so much later than the pc version. Bioware, really, there are mac gamers. But the most fervent rpg players are likely to have Bootcamp and will get a pc version if there is no news and no certainty of a mac version whatsoever.

I'd have preferred to have played this on MacOS, but not to the point of buying two copies of the game.

I read that it wasn't the BioWare programmers who did it? They'd better not. They should concentrate on bug fixing instead of wasting time developing for that system.

would have been good to know but on the other hand i still would have gotten the pc version since there will most likely be no toolset for the mac version.

lol, funny but true.
Other companies always port for the mac version instead, their always a lot different too, wonder how this one will work.

But yeah, can't really say how I fell, i still think macs are just dumbed down versions of pc's, plus how are you going to mod without a proper toolset on mac?

Really?  I never even knew such a thing existed Posted Image

I agree. Waste of time. Maybe I'm being pessimistic, but I see this as being a lame attempt at best to get some window buyers. However, the "M" label and late release date would seem to make a very small segment of people this would be marketed to.

Well, they probably should have mentioned it earlier. I do think that if you want to play a game on a non-standard platform though, you also have a certain obligation to research whether that game will (eventually) be available for that platform before you buy another version. I don't know if this information was there to find though.

In the end, I think every Mac user/gamer should be very happy with this regardless of communication issues. It shows that this developer knows Macs exist and is willing to develop for them. It hasn't always been like that for Mac users, so this is a good trend.

Finally Mac gamers will be able to put something else on the shelf beside the Sims 3.

EA likes to make games for Mac, probably the only good thing about that wretched company. If more companies did that I could give up my PC for good.

Please don't use the words "mac" and "gamer" in the same sentence ever again. This is the last time I will.

Mac....PC.....whatever....it's the same thing to me.....wherever there are infinitely many variations of hardware and software to be found that BioWare cannot account for there are bound to be fifty trillion game breaking bugs to be found every single minute.....not to mention the mods....those are just about guaranteed to break your game the moment you install a new patch or DLC.

Now DAO runs absolutely flawlessly on the consoles so why would they want to release yet another unplayable version of the game I cannot understand.

Please explain how it's a "dumbed down" version of a PC. A Mac is a PC. It just happens to have the ability to run Mac OS (in addition to Windows, Linux, Solaris, etc). Can your PC make use of four full-size PCIe cards, two quad core Xeons and 32GB of RAM, and boot into pretty much any OS? Mine can. I guess only the dumbed-down PCs can do that, or something.

I'am glad they do a port for it. I don't own a mac and I really don't like apple, but I don't see why mac user couldn't have access to proper software version.

Now about what ****** off the OP and me as well is that BIOWARE should have announced it before the first release. They anounced it few weeks after the initial release so some Mac user may buy the game twice. Exactly like they did with KOTOR and MASS EFFECT. Only for XBOX !!! So some PC gamer will buy the XBOX version, and the PC version later.

This is bad buiseness practice.

Maybe they just didn't have plans for a MacOS port until recently? For all we know, they were approached by TransGaming after they saw the success of DA:O. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions and get upset about it until we know more information.

Not a Mac gamer but I am a Mac owner, and find a lot of the comments rather shortsighted. You should be happy more people get to experience the game.

I applaud the decision, but for me it's too late, I bought DA as soon as it got to the stores and in general don't buy Mac games anymore. But it's finally a good game for Mac again, not the usual Sims/CoD/Harry Potter boredom. I hope it will be appreciated and will lead to more Mac ports (I woudn't mind having Mass Effect for OS X).

I expected this, since they tend to be pretty "equal opportunity" when it comes to what gaming systems their customers use.

EA on Mac=Cider=FAIL!

Make a native port (ala Blizzard) or don't do it al all, Bootcamp works just fine.

I don't see why anyone is surprised. All of BioWare's previous PC RPGs were ported to Mac. BG, BG2, NWN - all of them. Why expect DAO to be different.

Not too excited as it'll come with SecuROM DRM as it was a third-party conversion.

Oh oh oh! I have a Mac!

But it's a PPC so this means nothing to me. But if I had a newer Mac I'd be thrilled.
