DA3 MP looks to be a strong possibility?

I'm asking really nicely.

And the features of one do not necessarily correlate to the feature of all titles. That is a presumption. When we actually have features of this phantom multiplayer were aruging about, then you may have a point. For now, its a guess, and a bad one at that.
I'll agree it's a guess, but I think it's a damn good one actually. From what I am hearing, EA is essentially making it mandatory for MP to be included on all "RPG" titles from here on out. Just what I've heard.

I don't mind the existence of multiplayer in general, I miss the days of being able to play a game with someone while we were in the same room. But everyone I know who plays Dragon Age uses Xbox, while I play on PS3. I'd be disappointed if it as a co-op experience as I would not be able to play with my friends.
Ideally, I would like multiplayer, whatever form it takes, to be as separate from the single-player campaign as possible. But it would be neat if you could earn gold/equipment in multiplayer and tranfer it to your single-player campaign.
I have not played Mass Effect, but reading about the multiplayer mode on Wikipedia, it actually sounds pretty fun. I would like something like that for Dragon Age very much. The only problem I can perceive that it affected the outcome of the ME3 single-player campaign, and I would not want that for Dragon Age 3.
But I don't think that's a concern. The endings for DA:O and DA2 respectively are all morally ambiguous, with no "best" one.

Word, make it exactly like Old Republic even! Focus it on story with B movie writing and characters! Let the endgame be a joke to conquer even on Nightmare, make crafting a joke and still only have two factions. It could be perfect.

So long as you don't need to play MP to get the most out of SP, I don't care.

Anyway I'm fine with MP as long as it doesn't affect the SP campaign in any way, shape or form. I disliked that my galactic readiness was always at 50% cuz I couldn't play multiplayer on ME3.

If the MP is something that will not affect the SP in any way (budget, gameplay, etc.) I won't have any problem with it.

If they can't spend their budget on stuff like that, what are they going to do with the money? Hire good writers and wait until the game is ready?

Not because of a knee jerk reaction to MP, but because it shows that the combat of the game is going in the wrong direction. A direction I am not interested in playing. For me at least.

I think that might be a bit of an overstatement considering all the rage that took place when it was discovered that you have to play MP, or Infiltrator, or some other campaign to reach 4000 EMS to get the "best" ending. That said, I do kindof like it. It was my first MP experience, so I have no basis for comparison to know if it's objectively any good or not. But all the same, I'd rather not see it in the Dragon Age franchise. I'd much rather see a well written story and maybe a third cave layout for a change.Jerrybnsn wrote...
It seems like everyone who plays ME loves the multiplayer aspect. And it might be the only way to get to play a different race in Dragon Age ever again. Still, I only purchase those games with MP for half price and used, because I'm not interested in that type of gameplay. I don't buy rpgs for MP. ME can get away with it because it isn't an rpg.

That is not possible.
ANY AMOUNT OF $$ PUT INTO MULTIPLAYER IS, AS A MATTER OF FACT, $$ THAT COULD HAVE BEEN USED FOR SP.
There is no "Hope", it is unavoidable.
There are plenty of examples to reinforce this fact as well.
Sorry to be so blunt, but that comment is common and always irks me.

I'd say White Knight Chronicles MP added tremendously to single player (at least the version that shipped with WKCII).
The biggest issue with DA as an MP game is the combat system is not designed that way.

If multiplayer lets me play threw the story with friends, I would be ok with that.
If multiplayer is just me fighting a bunch of people, I would not play it. Mostly because I find combat in Dragon Age to be its weakest part.

Personally I would say that DA:O is better for MP with its heavy MMO influences.

Why would you want that? I mean... it would be just a WoW clone thing without the story/choices.
PS: I would love to see some romance instances

I quite like the idea of playing a version of Dragon Age where each one of my mates was controlling each of the four characters in a party for a bit of dungeon crawling, as a nice little add on to the single player.
Thing is, realistically I don't think any of my friends will go near a Dragon Age game again after Dragon Age 2 , so I won't have anyone to play with. Playing Mass Effect MP with my friends was fun. Playing it with randoms on XBL was less fun.
On balance, would I really want it in DA3? Probably not. Not because i've got anything against mp in bioware games or rpg general. I only got one playthrough out of ME3 (A discussion for another forum but the thought of playing throught to that conclusion again, well, no. I can't face it) and so the only re-play value I got out of the game was mulitplayer.
I think on balance, i'd rather Biowares recources went on a good single player game, there are plenty of good multiplayer games out there but less good story driven fantasy RPG's. I know Mass Effect's multiplayer was made by a different dev team but the money to pay that dev team comes from the same finite source and if they weren't making me3 multiplayer and instead focussing on single player they might have well have made the difference between an almost brilliant game with a few dodgy bits that spoiled the experience and a just plain brilliant game that I would have happily played again and again.
When you have nailed the basics, you can start adding on extra bits. Sadly, the last two bioware games haven't got the basics of making a good story based RPG right, go back to doing that to the standard you used to on a regular basis, then start adding multi player.
